Me: Hi, you can go right ahead when you're ready.

Customer: HELLL-OOOO...!?!

Me: Go right ahead when you're ready.

Customer: I'm not ready, I need a minute.

Me: Would you like your meal large size with a coke?

Customer: No.

Me: What kind of drink did you want with that meal, then?

Customer: A coke.

Customer: And can I get that large?

Me: Will that complete the order?

Customer: No. *long pause*

Me: *waiting*

Customer: That's it!

Me: Anything else for you today?

Customer: Yes. *pause*

Me: ...What else can I get for you?

Customer: That's it!

Me: If everything on your screen is correct, your total will be $2.75 at the first window.

Customer: *pulls forward* *gives me $2.59*

Me: The total was $2.75

Customer: But the screen said it was $2.59!

Me: That was the sub-total before tax (6%), after tax it's $2.75

Customer: But that's not what you said!

Me: >__

Customer: Hi, how are you?

Me: Oh, I'm fine. And how are you today?

Customer: *ignores*

Customer watches me cash out the order and close my drawer. As I hand them their change...

Customer: Can I get change for this $20 bill?

McDonald’s Workers...?

I have a question if any of you are willing to answer? (Totally fine if you don’t!)

I’ve been thinking about submitting an application to my McDonalds since I have yet to hear back from everywhere else I’ve applied. Also, the manager there is actually a nice guy. (From what I can remember, anyway.) I’ve been tossing this idea around though. I have bad social anxiety as well as a bit of a low self-esteem. So I feel like if I worked the cash register, or took orders at the window, I would be a absolute mess and end up embarrassing myself more than anything.

I feel like I would be best if I prepared the food in the back, or something of that sort! Not trying to sound full of myself, but I do a hell of a lot better when I have a set list of orders to do. (Does that make sense?) I’m pretty meticulous when it comes to getting things right anyway, so that makes me think I would be more beneficial working the grill/preparing the orders. (Because special orders, etc.)

That being said, is this a possible thing I can request/bring up during a interview, or no?

I also apologize if I sound stupid at all. I never really had a job aside from working at my aunt’s pottery store for a few months…and I didn’t do a interview or anything for that, she just told me to come in every other day at a set time. So I’m still a bit unfamiliar with how things really work.

When I first started at McDonalds I had really bad social anxiety and cried several times and had a bad anxiety attack on the day I found out I was being trained on front counter. The first few weeks to a month were uncomfortable, and I felt like I was doing everything wrong. But eventually I got better at it, and I started getting more comfortable with new people. It’s been a few years and I feel like working in service has helped my social anxiety a great deal. If you’re able to work in the kitchen, that’s great, but I wouldn’t completely dismiss the idea of working service eventually. Anyway, I realize I might be replying a bit late but whatever you choose to do, best of luck :)
