LAVENDER HAZE MV AT MIDNIGHT
Lover era red carpet close ups
we were wrong about which Joe she was singing to when she said âi will never give you peaceâ
pov: itâs 2008 and someone just introduced you to this new artist named âtaylor swiftâ
she took just a couple vocal liberties on forever & always (piano version) (taylor's version) and i'm into it
in honour of the official beginning of taylorâs version era, whatâs the first song of hers you absolutely adored (no cheating with belated favourites)
I canât believe Taylorâs about to own 4/9 albums tonight
...april 9th...
WAIT-
Good Morning America more like Good Morning Clowns đ€Ą
my fav conspiracy theory is that everything will turn out ok eventually
HELLO MR. PERFECTLY FI I NE, HOWâS YOUR HEART AFTER BREAKING MI I NE???? MR. ALWAYS AT THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TI I I I ME BABY!!!!!
okay yall question.. when Fearless ( Taylorâs Version ) drops... are you listening in order, or going to your favourite tracks first?
In order for sure. Fearless is the only one of her albums (aside from debut of course) where I didnât experience it front to end first, since I was introduced to it through the radio. I am gonna take this opportunity to rectify that now that itâs here.
Me waking up from a depression nap just to figure out Taylors clues
Has anyone noticed the Elvis references on Evermore? I have noticed two, one during the bridge for Champagne Problems (The lyrics of Blue Suede Shoes) and during Dorothea (Tupelo, Elvisâ birthplace). Was curious if there were any that I didnât notice (not being super knowledgeable on the topic of Elvis) and if anyone had any ideas as to what their meaning could be (or that there isnât any idk).
(For anyone who doesnât know the Elvis song, the Blue Suede Shoes lyric goes... âWell, it's one for the money, Two for the show, Three to get ready, Now go, cat, go.â And Taylorâs lyrics are âOne for the money, two for the show, I never was ready, so I watched you goâ).
Thatâs really interesting about Tupelo and Dorothea. The âone for the money ...â verse isnât necessarily an Elvis referenceâ itâs a childrenâs schoolyard rhyme thatâs been around since the mid-1800âs that Carl Perkins (the writer of âBlue Suede Shoesâ) modified for the song. I had assumed she had just used it to show the narratorâs fear of commitment (the rhyme is about hyping yourself up to do something, but the narrator in âchampagne problemsâ backs out before the action can take place), but it is interesting that she also namedrops his home town later in the album. I always thought that was a random choice, but nothing Taylor ever does is random.
I also looked into Carl Perkins too but I had no idea it was a schoolyard rhyme! I figured there must be something in that reference I was missing because I didnât understand itâs context in either song. Makes a lot more sense now.
I have been twisting myself trying to understand why Taylor chose Tupelo of all places to call out in this album. The connection to the Elvis song was the first thing that felt like a possible link to me, but it could be unrelated since itâs also the words of the schoolyard rhyme you mentioned. She could have just used that city because the name sounded cool when sung in the song lol I just love analyzing her lyrics.
