I live in the jungle, I sleep in a monkey tree. I'm looking from an angle, From the bird of a different breed, yeah. I never went to your school, I learned in a monkey tree. So come into the jungle, Where the drugs and the drinks are free, yeah.

Howdy! This is a permanent starter call for JAKE ENGLISH from Homestuck, for Phantom Lakes! Like this post if youâd like a starter from this goober. Thanks! As a note: I am also open to receiving random starters.Â
@fonrainherutsu
âă You spot a gentleman with... monster fangs? Well darn. Youâve seen a lot weirder, for sure, but it wasnât exactly what youâd imagined when you saw him from far away. Well. You guess itâs probably a normal thing here. Besides! Your sort of kid-grandma... or is she your daughter? Daughter-friend? Oh whatever! Youâre related, and sheâs part dog, and you accept her! Just like you accept this man here. He seems trustworthy, and is probably a good source of information too.
Naturally, you approach him, and offer your hand out for a handshake.ă
âGreetings local! My name is Jake. I'm new around these parts, and I was wondering if you would be able to tell me where I would be able to purchase a firearm! Itâs good for a man to be equipped and ready to pounce- er... ready to strike! I think your fangs are just dandy, by the way! Very intimidating, but complimentary to those sideburns!âÂ

crowo-akechi:
This guy was wild. Akechi had made one joke and this guy was ready to do something drastic.
Still Akechi could read him like a book. This guy had gotten pulled into phantom lakes not 20 minutes ago, and went to steal the car out of panic. Additionally, it would appear that his fight or flight instinct was active. Judging by his stiff posture in this state, he was used to fighting with a method that had strong recoil; Likely a firearm. Of course right now that method wouldnât be accessible to him currently. Yeah, Akechi believed that he could take him in a fight.
Still it would be desirable not to get in a fistfight on the street. It was apparent to Akechi that the interloper would not listen to reason, at least not without being extremely condescending. Perhaps Akechi could use his lack of information about this town to his advantage.
Akechi gripped the wallet that contained his detective badge and hoped this would work.
âYeahâŚI donât think calling the authorities would be to your favorâ Akechi chuckled as he took out his badge and flashed it.
âYou were right about one thing, calling me Sherlock. Iâm a Detective, Now walk away slowly from the vehicle!â
âOh, fucking horsefeathers and gravy!â âă you shout, because of course. Of course you pick to get caught, and start a squabble with the one boy in town who so happens to be a detective! Of course! It couldnât have been anyone else. Anyone at all! You contemplate putting your hands up and surrendering, but you canât go to prison! Being trapped in any way, shape, or form scares the absolute molasses out of you! And you need to get home!
So you do the only logical thing there is to do. Movie style slide across the back of the car and make a goddamn break for it! And for a moment, you kind of feel like a badass!ă
âHahah!! Take that you lily-livered pig! You mop haired barney! You son of a gu-ugh!âÂ
âă You slam directly into a street light, knocking yourself out cold for a few seconds. It feels like someone stuffed a fishbowl in your noggin, and you donât appreciate it. You sniff, tears welling up as you expect the inevitable, unintentionally probably giving this poor fellow some sort of mental whiplash.ă
â...oof. Uncle-! Please donât arrest me! I just want to go home! I didnât mean to cause trouble, honest!â
@weissolated
âă You stare at the real, live beast people in the city for just a little too long. Nothing should surprise you at this point but... is that a goat holding a coffee mug? How the fuck is it doing that when it doesnât even have thumbs? Youâre so caught up in your gawking, that you do not see the person youâre about to slam into. Itâs just enough- a jostle, and youâre on high alert.Â
Naturally, you try to uppercut your problems. Itâs worked better than crying or pleading has in the past. ă
âFuck off you wily, fanged temptress! Oh-âÂ
âOh shoot, Iâm so sorry!! Are you alright? I thought you were someone else and... oh. Oh god. I didnât draw blood, did I?â âă ... you thought you were past all of these shenanigans. You hadnât punched anyone in your sleep for quite some time. You hope you didnât hurt her.ă
crowo-akechi:
Akechi takes a moment to process what the stranger said, what he was talking about was all over the place. though one you were able to catch one thing, about the town being odd. Akechi was honestly inclined to agree but he didnât want to play all the cards in his hands at once just in case the thief, or hell the entire town was hostile in some way.
Akechi Chuckled âOf course Iâm finding things odd, i just finished unpacking my bags here only to find a guy fiddling with a car door, claiming that Heâs a famous actor and established business owner who just so happens to live in a rural town for some odd reason!â
âă Oh, you do not enjoy this guyâs attitude! You know youâre not the best at lying, but heâs just so smarmy about it!ă
âWell, damn Sherlock, at least let me wipe my hands on my britches before you cuff me! While I donât own this car, I am actually am an actor, thank you very much! Iâve starred in plenty of commercials anyway, and I am fairly certain it is illegal to kidnap celebrities! Which is what happened! I was hornswoggled into this town, and if Iâm being honest, youâre not exactly handing me a convincing story either! Youâre only a hop, skip, and jump out of your jar, and youâre telling me that youâre a tourist? As if! I have the mind to call your parents and tell them youâve run away!âÂ
âă You cross your arms. ă âSo fella. Whatâs it going to be? You leave me be, or I tell the authorities thereâs a wild rugrat on the loose!âÂ
Hello everyone! I figured I would introduce myself! My name is Kit, and I go by he/him pronouns. I play Jake English here! In my free time I make music, draw, and hoard crystals in a spooky ass cabinet.Â
Like this if itâs completely okay for me to write you a starter! No caps!Â
crowo-akechi:
âUhâŚâ
Akechi was dumbfounded. It had not been but ten minutes since getting to the hotel that he had come across something suspicious (at least on top of all the crazy stuff that was going on)Â
Already his mind was on point. Akechi noticed little things such as the footprints leading to the mysterious interloper being in paces back and forth rather than a straight line, too more suspicious things, like the fact that this âlocalâ was heavily tanned despite it being winter.
Still unaware of how deep this rabbit hole went, he figured he ought to not try to be conflictive to the thief so that he werenât to get himself in trouble. Keeping his guard up, he tried a more reasonable approach
âI wouldnât advise doing that if i were you, judging by the rural nature of the town, i wouldnât be surprised if local law enforcement were more aggressive. Of course i wouldnât know, Iâm justâŚâ
He struggled to think of a way to describe his situation without causing confusion
ââŚIâm just a Touristâ
âă A tourist eh? Something about the way he introduced that sounds fishy to you- but not enough to feel like investigating just yet. After all. Youâre the fella with red all over his hands here. You sigh, standing up straight before rubbing your neck a bit. This guyâs got a point.ă
âOh. Well, the last thing I want to start is a fuss! Youâre right. I should just get to hunting for those keys...â
âSay, um. Did you notice anything strange when you rolled on into town? Like youâd had just one too many gulps of the olâ giggle water? I mean, not to be a debbie downer, but I just canât shake the feeling something odd is going on here is all! Iâve... er. Been mulling over it for a while now. Since I moved here! Last Christmas. Iâm a renowned actor, slash wildlife entrepreneur! Very important business, Iâm doing here. âÂ
ă Hell yes! You are the master of deception. It is you.ă
âă So. Youâve really never actually had to use a bus, for any reason. But your flight has been hijacked it seems, so if youâre going to get anything done, you really only have a few options. Trying to learn how the bus works is going to take too long so! Youâre just going to borrow someoneâs car. Drive as far away from this place as quick as possible, figure a way to get your friendâs attention. Brainstorm as it were!ă
ă You saw it in a movie once- someone jimmied a car lock open with a clothes hanger. Thankfully, in your ratty closet, you found just such a metal apparatus to use! You roll the film over and over in your head, trying to remember how the protagonist did it. Youâve definitely got this. Youâre fiddling around with a red sedanâs lock, and... is that a person staring at you? Oh nuts, twenty minutes in and youâve been caught.ă
âUm- this isnât what it looks like, actually! This is my car, and I just locked myself out of it like a huge doofus! Haha! You know how it is. With cars, and their keys!âÂ
âă It just now occurs to you... you have no idea how to drive.ă
âă One minute youâre near falling asleep on your executive desk at SkaiaNet, the next youâre standing at a bus stop, with a haze filling the old noggin. Youâre somewhat unique in the fact this is the exact situation which gets your jimmies straight up ruffled all to the way to devil dancing hell! The dizziness youâre feeling. Itâs different; but itâs the lack of control, of agency, that sends you reeling. Your pulse hums in your throat as you realize you have no idea where you are and... your clothes have changed.ă
ă Youâre just coming to grips with it all, and for the first time in years you feel real terror. But the panic in your mind is disconnected from your body. Itâs your first instinct to sock the owner of the hand that lands on your shoulder, but you feel weightless, so you donât.ă
âă You comply. Always a sorry sucker, you comply. And before you know it youâre a bird in a new cage. But as your mind clears, your panic mounts, and you come back down again... you remember that you know things you didnât before. Youâre capable. Your friends love you more than you can imagine, and when things get rough, theyâll always find you. None of this malarkey is going to keep you suspended for long. Youâre JAKE FUCKING ENGLISH, and youâre going to get to the bottom of what this is about. And then youâre going home.ă
