hey guys, gals, and nb pals!! sorry about the really poor activity on this blog. we’re still here, just not as much. still, feel free to send more postivity asks and stuff, those are always really nice!!
Oh um abt the masterlist Kil is actually from a manga not a show not sure if there is a better category for it or not but that might cause some confusion asdfgh not a big deal obvs but just pointing that out
Yo, I’ll change that to “books” then, if that would work out better for you? Edit: Done!
hello ! i just wanted to point out the hux blog you recently added is listed under mtf, when i believe the muse is ftm !
oh crap!! i’m sorry; i will fix that immediately :)
poc being unable to be in front of things like "poc mods" isn't people being finicky. when used that way it stops being person 1st language which has historically been used to dehumanize marginalized groups. aside from a grammar thing it's to maintain person 1st language & keep poc safe. some may see it as asinine but historically racism is facilitated by removing person first language which is very important even if it seems small. dismantling racism starts w microaggressions which this is.
(DIFFERENT ANON) that anon about people being “finicky” about it is extremely reductive of other peoples feelings (like mine as a person of color). person first language is essential and not understanding “poc” as being person first language is a part of using it incorrectly being a microaggression. little things like this are still important. it’s not being finicky. it’s paying attention and righting wrongs that have historically led to bigger racist issues regarding dehumanization.
archer:
hi!! i certainly agree that people correcting ryker and my language isn’t “finicky” as the previous anon put it. this is why i encouraged other people to message us if they knew how we could better answer/respond to things with regards to race, as we strive to do so in the most accurate and non-offensive way possible. it was an oversight on my part for even publishing that anon (i have deleted it now) and i am very sorry if it hurt you. thank you both for taking the time to send these messages, as i now know to be more vigilant for the sort of offensive language that the anon used. it is very important to me that this blog is seen as a safe space, so i really, really appreciate you telling me when we do/post something offensive so we have the chance to make it right. <3
(also: @silvaer sent us THIS post, so ryker and i will both be following its example)
ryker:
Hey, different mod here(I didn’t see the anon message, but heard about it from Archer), I really appreciate & agree with you- person 1st language is important and necessary, I’ll make sure that we stay on top of that while modding this blog. I know that opinions on language can butt heads a lot, but between what you’ve said and from what I’ve seen online we should (and will!) be maintaining person first language as it is the accepted + correct form. I’m sorry for the confusion between me and Archer. Seriously, thank you for this and thank you for calling this to attention so we can maintain it in the future.
(We’re both white as fuck so I really value+respect the people calling us out about it and the patience of the people doing so because I know how tiring this can be tbh)
we are currently working on a MASTERLIST of trans/nb characters in the rpc. so reblog this to be added to it if your character is trans/nb!! please include: the character’s name, fandom, and gender. thank you :)
@silvaer is one of my oldest online friends, if not THE first friend I ever made online, and can I tell you how grateful I am for that? Res has such a big, warm heart that wants nothing but good things for those he loves and just speaking to him will brighten up your entire week! He has such a compelling and electric personality that SO MANY people adore, and his love and passion for the characters he writes is inspiring! He educates and is loved by so many, and he truly deserves it all.

@copycaat is such a total loser, but my god they're my favourite loser. The best loser. They are literally possibly the funniest person I've ever met. Their writing has left me in stitches with tears of laughter in my eyes more than once, and they're are SO unbelievably easy to talk to and get along with -- but you best believe they don't take anyone's shit! Being around them makes me feel safer because I know that if they see something that is toxic, they won't let it stand. I love them!

I just wanted to say that 'POC' shouldn't be used as an adjective like that ('poc trans mods') esp if you're white - a more appropriate way to phrase it would be 'trans mods who are POC' !
oh!! we weren’t sure how to phrase it (we changed it about ten times before actually posting that), so i’ll go ahead and fix that up right now!! thank you for informing us!! <3
I am so lucky to be able to count @destinsia / @heistborne among my best friends. He is endlessly kind, compassionate, supportive (and a total cheeky shit at times, that just makes me love him more - you didn't hear that from me though). His writing leaves me reeling, such a creative and imaginative mind to come up with beautiful imagery and unique characters. He's the best!

i love alex / @deadcyed they're so wonderful and kind. they put so much thought into their interpretation of jesse as trans i honestly can't even see jesse as cis because of them. they have have such an amazing well thought out muse and i love them so much.

I'm a little worried this'll turn out like that pocrppositivity blog
Hey!
With everything going on in the RPC, that’s totally understandable.
Both mods for transrppositivity are trans and write various trans characters. I’m bisexual and trans masculine/nonbinary. And I’m very involved in online trans communities and LGBTQ+ communities irl. Mod Arky and I also run a transgender meme page on Facebook.
Transrppositivity has been something we’ve wanted to make for a while, I’ve wanted to do this for years even, I can assure you that the reason we made this blog was to spread positivity for our fellow trans muns and hopefully get more people to write more trans characters, since the RPC is lacking them.
I hope this cleared up any concerns!(Also: Mod Arky and I are both white. This is also in our FAQ, but just in case this also happens to be a concern I thought I’d throw it in here. We both try to be conscious of the fact, and encourage people to call us out if we do or say something fucked/offensive. And we hopefully want to have more trans mods who are POC in the future, if anyone’s interested!)
@chaosate is an amazing writer, with a brilliant oc. the lore is brilliant, grey is an amazing character. lucky is always a blessing to have on my dash and always makes my day when i can read their writing. <3

hi! i'm a cis person trying to write a nb character (specifically agender), but she/they hasn't realized they aren't cis yet. i've done some research, but i still want to get multiple opinions to make sure i don't do anything accidentally offensive, so what are some things i should/shouldn't do in this situation?
Hi!
To be honest, I think it really varies from character to character? I think things to stay away from are assuming that agender people don’t really care about being misgendered and/or seen as masculine or feminine- I’ve seen this a lot irl and in fiction. Also: Stay away from the trope of “Revealing Your Character’s ‘Birth Sex’”. No. No no no. I cannot recommend staying away from this enough. (And it’s totally fine if your character uses she/they interchangeably, but if they’re only using ‘she’ before they realize they’re Not Cis, I’d probably recommend using they? Like I said, this is something that really varies from person to person.)
And finally, just avoid cissexism and binarism in general. I mean, you should in all of your writing, but in this specifically.
If you have any more questions feel free to ask!!
hi!! while we’re still answering general/writing asks (feel free to send more btw) y’all should totally send some positivity about your favorite blogs!! it’s a really nice thing to do for someone (i know i like opening up tumblr to find someone said something nice about me)!! <3
I'm a 14-year-old non binary individual with multiple trans and non binary OCs. Sadly, I've been getting anon hate for being so young and trying to portray my characters. I do my best and spend so much time with research, it hurts to be shot down like this.
hello!! i am so sorry that you’ve been getting anon hate; no one deserves that. i’m very lucky because of the fact that i’ve never received any, but i know what it feels like not to be taken seriously because of my age (i’m sixteen right now!). i can’t offer many suggestions for how to stop such mean people, but i will certainly say this: you shouldn’t give up on writing your characters just because people are being dicks to you. as long as you are writing them in a respectful manner, those anons can frick right off!! it doesn’t matter your age; we all have different experiences and abilities, and who is to say you can’t portray trans characters? you are very brave for writing (and wanting to write) trans characters, who are so underrepresented. -- also, if you tag us in your promo (or send us a link) we can reblog it and hopefully get more trans muns/people with trans characters to follow you so you don’t feel so alone!! please don’t give up with writing your characters; the people who are sending you hate are dickwads who know nothing. hopefully we can build a community here that supports trans and nonbinary characters and writers, regardless of the muns age.
Um I just wanted to ask, is it okay for cis ppl to rp or write trans characters? Is there anything we should avoid in our portrayals/any tips for writing trans characters etc?
obviously i don’t know everyone’s opinion, but in my own, i think it is definitely alright for a cis person to write a transgender character. you just have to make sure that you do so in a respectful and accurate manner, which means lots and lots of research (yay). the internet is great because there are so many resources out there, and articles written by transgender people themselves! there are so many different articles and videos and everything, ranging from feelings on being transgender in general, to coming out, to experiencing dysphoria. everyone’s experience is different, however, so be sure to read/research a lot so you are exposed to many different viewpoints.
i think one of the most important things to do when writing a transgender character is to avoid clichés and stereotypes. i won’t go into the specific stereotypes and clichés to avoid right now (however, from what i know/have noticed, most pertain to transfeminine people), but i think it is very important not to let what society says trans people are ‘supposed’ to be like solely dictate how you develop your character. at the moment i can’t think of a good transgender character that showcases what i mean, but a lot of shows (especially ones set in high school) do this with ‘the gay kid.’ the flamboyant sassy boy who always calls people things like ‘honey’ and ‘sweetheart.’ he is stereotypical and quite frankly, boring. as long as you are careful to avoid stereotypes and not let internalized prejudices guide how you write the character, your character likely won’t meet the same fate as the Token Gay Boy!
I hope it’s ok for me to add my two cents for this but just keep in mind that gender is a spectrum, and while I know one stereotype for transmasculine people is that they’re small and actually fem-looking (which while some people like expressing themselves that way I actually hate that fact about myself), so just keep all that in mind. I know sometimes it’s unavoidable to have features of our birth gender (especially before surgery and hormone treatments), but this kind of thing should be treated very carefully. If you’re going to have trans characters, the best idea is to have multiple ones. One might fit the stereotype in some way, while another breaks it entirely. It shows variety and dedication to whatever story you’re creating… It’s just bc I’ve noticed this a lot with women in books. There will be one femme fatale, there will be the president/ceo, the amazing athlete, the bookworm, the gamer, the shut-in, the diva, the blah blah blah, but there are a bunch, and they all fit into a different category. That’s the best thing you could do, bc one character is not going to satisfy everyone. In fact, if you try to use one character to satisfy everyone, you may well satisfy no one.
I'm nb and honestly seeing this blog include nb people is really awesome bc I've always kind of felt that I didn't really belong anywhere since I'm not cis but also not specifically on the other end of the spectrum from my birth gender. It's good to finally get some trans/nb representation here, since most of the time, the LGB (pansexuals too) part of the acronym get the most attention in rp.
hello!! i definitely understand that feeling. while i identify as a transguy, i still have trouble feeling as if i fit into either of the binaries. and that is a very hard thing to go through alone, with such little representation!! the goal of this blog is to encourage more transgender representation, as well as to show other trans people in the rpc that they aren’t alone. and i’ve been blown away by the response to it!! it’s so amazing finding all these blogs, with either trans/nonbinary muns, or of trans/nonbinary characters. while it’s not a heckin’ ton, and it’s limited to the rpc, i think it’s good for everyone to see and encourage such diversity!! thank you for being here, and i am glad you are enjoying the blog so far <3
