stop getting your information on did/osdd-1 from unsourced and uninformed tumblr posts, twitter threads, and youtube/tiktok videos like i swear to god i'm going to legit end up in a psych ward again if y'all keep parroting actually dangerous misinfo because of what some random 14 y/o claims is correct.
here's some decent sources where you can get some actually helpful and accurate info:
dissociation faqs from the international society for the study of trauma and dissociation
did-research - basic, but it's there.
traumadissociation - detailed explanation of diagnostic criteria and symptom presentation.
this-is-not-dissociative and also their resource list - one of the mods, katherine, is the creator of did-research.
did-sos - mainly resources for those who have did/osdd-1 (or "just" cptsd), but others may find it informative or even helpful nonetheless.
bear in mind all of this stuff should be looked at with a critical eye, as with everything online pertaining to highly stigmatized psychiatric diagnoses. don't just take things at face value, think about them.
did/osdd-1 is not like sybil. did/osdd-1 is not like split or glass. did/osdd-1 is not like the united states of tara. did/osdd-1 is not "multiple people in one body" or obvious blackout switches and dissociative fugue between every single alter or something purely iatrogenic/sociocognitive in nature. it is a post-traumatic condition as a result of long-term traumatic experiences in early childhood where a reliance on dissociation as a coping mechanism prevents integration of the parts of the self into a cohesive whole. i'm making this post because twitter is a shitshow of both teenagers and grown adults that should know better spreading easily disproven and sometimes dangerous bullshit like insisting child alters should be treated like actual children and doing otherwise is problematic when actual predators have used that same logic to groom actual children. what people with did/osdd-1 need is less myths and misinformation, not more. the pervasive misunderstanding of and stigma against osddid is part of why we face disturbingly high rates of suicide and psychiatric abuse that exacerbates the trauma we've already faced. it's a serious issue that extends beyond internet arguments and while people without did/osdd-1 need to be more vigilant about participating in the spread, the enormous chunk of people who have it and are happily being wrong aren't exempt from this either.
❤️ this post must be reblogged by everyone ❤️
reblogging this again because some of the posts i see people without did/osdd-1 boosting on here that are even tangentially related to this subject are concerning to me like i need y'all to he critical and vigilant because 90% of what's on social media is blatant misinformation or exaggeration that only does us harm in getting support and supporting ourselves.
don’t look away.
hello wizards are killing me
Maybe you shouldn’t have bothered the wizards then
“A fatal wound is an impact so intense, so devastating, that you fall into a state where you’re no longer a human—even though you are. You’re no longer able to lead a life even though you’re living. It means being ground to bits after falling victim to a relative paradox created by reason itself. That is a fatal wound. In other words, failure. The key here is the fact that even after a profound failure, we go on. The world is brutally tepid. It’s so kind that it’s cruel. It’s a devil’s Heaven. To put it plainly, you don’t die by making a big mistake. Or maybe I should say you can’t die. Yeah, you don’t die. You just suffer. You simply suffer in agony. And you go on. Forever, wherever. Meaninglessly, you just go on. Life isn’t a video game, not because there’s no reset button, but because there’s no Game Over. Even though it was “over” long ago, tomorrow shows up anyway. Even when night falls, morning comes again after it. When winter ends, spring rolls in. Life is wonderful.”

Pray for Tonga 😭
Thinking of all my Pacific friends and whānau right now, sending so much love 😭💔💔💔 please message me if you find a link we can donate to (not the Red Cross or any missionary agencies) and I'll add some as soon as they are available
Guys Tonga is underwater. The tsunami swept through everywhere, the highest point on the main island of Tongatapu is just 28 meters above sea level. All power and communications have been cut off so we don't even know what's going on anymore, but at last report the sky is black and raining ash and acid rain. The water is undrinkable because of the acid. People can't breathe because of the ash. The entire island of 'Atata has gone underwater 😭
The explosion shook homes in Alaska, over 9500 km away. The tsunami has gone through the entire Pacific but nowhere has been affected as badly as Tonga. And no one outside the Pacific seems to be talking about it 😥
A trustworthy donation link!!!
Hi All, Pita Taufatofua, the Tongan Flag Bearer here. As you all know a large … Pita Taufatofua needs your support for Tonga Tsunami relief

Actually, hating kids is actively harmful whether you think you're subtle about it or not. I was one of those annoying, loud, attention-seeking kids, and I knew instinctively when adults/teenagers hated me (and kids in general), and all it did was convince me that I couldn't tell any adults about the abuse I was experiencing at home because they wouldn't care or listen to me. Once again I am saying there is no good reason to hate all children, and if you do then you need to actively work on that because you share society and public spaces with children so the odds of you having to interact with them at some point are very high, and they don't need to internalize your weird hang-ups just because you refuse to get over yourself. Kids are at the mercy of adults and the adult world around them. You do not have to make growing up any harder than it already is.
How do the people this post is about keep missing the point this badly
