Snape is not a good person.

I see a lot of people accepting Snape's apology and pitying him in the book. They see his apology as a redemption arc for him, when it was anything but. Snape consistently made it his duty to make Harry's life hell at Hogwarts. The only reason he felt bad for what he'd done at the end, was because he finally realized how cruel he was to the son of the so-called love of his life (whom he also degraded and called slurs on public occasions).
