the owner of this blog will be taking a break from posting on it for mental health reasons. don’t worry, i will definitely come back. but in the meantime, i thought i’d give you some homework
If you’re polysexual/polyromantic,
what prompted you to id as ply over bi/pan/lesbian/gay/straight/etc?
do you use any other lgbtq+ labels? how do your identities intersect?
did you use to identify as something different? what’s the story there?
how do you feel about the lgbtq+ community? has it treated you well?
attach a picture of yourself if you feel like it (picrews definitely count)!
i love you all 💖💚💙
Oooh this sounds fun! Okay:
I identified as straight for most of my life because no matter how much questioning (years worth of it) I did, no other label seemed to fit me and I knew I liked men at least. When I finally found polysexual after another intense period of questioning, I finally felt that catharsis people talk about when they find the label that “clicks.” Even though I know now that bi doesn’t necessarily mean only attracted to men and women, lots of people still see it that way, or include attraction to GNC and non-binary people as an afterthought. But really what it comes down to is, bi doesn’t feel like home for me now because it never felt like home for me before.
I use lots of labels! Since finding polysexual, I went from IDing as polysexual, to feeling like it wasn’t 100% right, to finding more specific microlabels that fit me and still IDing as polysexual now! Here are the ones I most commonly use: torenflexible, demisexual, omnisexual and of course, polysexual! Here are other terms that I’ve found which fit me and I like to varying degrees (some of which I literally just found tonight!): diversesexual, polyromantic, androgynoromantic, androgynosexual, androgynoaesthetic, demisexual, pluralian, varioriented, sketchsexual, pulsaric, citrinian, flinic, finic, penultisexual (sort of)
Honestly I have mixed feelings about the LGBTQ+ community. I have felt both heavily welcomed and heavily excluded by it, especially when a lot of people are really against microlabels, and microlables are the only way I’ve really been able to comfortably understand and label my orientation
Here’s a picrew of me!
