minki didn’t really understand being seen as ‘smart’. he was seen as that after all, sunmi too, but he didn’t understand why. sure, he understood the word and the origin, what it meant and how it was used, but he couldn’t tell if he was smart naturally, or that fact he’d grown up in the way he had, taught himself the things that he had– is that what made him smart? it was a curious thing, but if he were to say who was smart, he’d probably thought sunmi and anyone else really. he knew he was intelliegent after all, but he didn’t have the skills needed for the real world that everyone else held, and that put him at a disadvantage. he didn’t understand teh world like everyone else, and he saw it different– and hell, interacting with people in general was sometimes enough to make him want to sink back ino his mind instead because he still couldn’t get used to actually being around people like this. “s’only a lil’ bit older than me though.. both twenty four.” his head tilted once more, like a curious puppy he supposed hearing something he didn’t understand. but it was things like this that went over his head. “get the ladies?” he repeated her words then, face scrunching up in confusion because he didn’t understand that really, or why she was laughing now with her next words. “huh? hidin’ what? i’m missin’ a joke.. right?”
it was probably odd in the fact that they were both intelligent people, but even then, the seemingly simplest things were what went over his head and left him more confused than understanding. like when people were joking, or their change in voice and expression. he didn’t get that, didn’t catch on– the only thing he caught on to was if he was being shouted at, something that made him.. panic? more than anything. “wouldn’t be like that.. though. breath doesn’t smell.” he shook his head. at least to him it didn’t anyway. “promise– m’not lyin’.”
Her arm wraps around his, trying her best not to to continue to laugh.-- She let’s off sweet sigh, eyes staring down at her lap because she feels like she’ll start laughing if she looks back up. “Yeah, but Minho’s like a dad to me. I’ve known him since I was five, so he feels super old to me.” There’s a pause in between her words, eyes scanning him up and down quite seriously for a minute, tongue unconsciously darting out to wet her lips as she tilted her head. Damn... When you really look at him he’s..-- She shakes her head a bit, trying to cover it with her flipping her hair before she begins speaking. “But you? You don’t seem super old, I guess because we haven’t known each other as long as I’ve known Minho, you know?” It was true, while there was a time in her life where she had found herself attracted to Minho, it wasn’t something she ever felt fully comfortable with. “Anyway-- Yeah, like... You’re attractive and stuff, people would date you.” It seemed like she couldn’t control her laughter at this point, and it was the best she felt in a long time. “I was--It’s a bit-- It’s a dirty joke.”
Her bottom lips sucks in between her teeth, taking slow steps toward him again; She appreciated his kindness. She didn’t know if it was because it made her feel special, or just that kindness was what she needed the most right now. (She assumed the latter, he was nice to everyone after all.) but she appreciated it more than she probably let on. “Were you born this sweet or are you trying to get something out of me, I’m genuinely curious.”
