But missing one of my favorites, from Hagar, "El Roi" - the God who sees me.
Excerpt from journal - 11.18.2021
Do I always - will I always - start my day so on edge? Not like...anxious or dreading, at least not the majority. Just...taut. Wired. In anticipation, like the feeling you get when you're about to jump onto/into something in motion, like an escalator or a jump rope. When my brain gets going, thinking about my show and needing to be competent and live up to the hype I set for my own dang self.
Do do do. Hustle hustle hustle. Prove prove prove. The Lord hit me with the story of Mary and Martha in Luke the other day. How gosh darn hard it is for someone like me to pull out of the frenzied current that everyone else is in and sit at the feet of Jesus. Where stuff really matters. Right now I worship at the altar of my new job with devotion. Dwelling on it, lavishing the firstfruits of my attention on it. Not much left at the altar of my God.
Do I want my colleagues to look at me and see a woman who will lay down her life for a project, or see the One who laid down His life for His people?
