Aline's heart is pounding in her chest as they stand frozen in fear. Sweat beads on their forehead, and her palms feel clammy.
She can feel their pulse racing and their breathing becoming shallow and rapid. Their mind races as they try to process the situation and figure out a way to escape the fear they are feeling.
Her muscles feel tense and ready to spring into action, yet they can't seem to move. Aline's eyes dart around the room, taking in every detail as they search for a way out. The fear is overwhelming, and they can feel their chest constricting, making it hard to take a deep breath.
She is aware of a tightness in their stomach, which is causing a feeling of nausea. Aline is paralyzed by fear, unable to think or act. She feels strapped as if they are in a nightmare from which they can't wake up. They try to shake off the feeling, but it is overwhelming and all-consuming.
Aline is so scared that she can't even speak, her voice caught in her throat.
This feeling called fear was there as she was surrounded by a group of students with a menacing gazes. It was there as she was beaten beyond belief. It was there when they hurled insults at her country and culture.
Fear got replaced with utter shock. "Don't think a foreigner like you deserve to win that prize," a girl spat.
Aline couldn't help it. She laughed as they continued to hit her. She laughed as tears came out of her eyes. She laughed because of the stupid reason they gave her.
The label foreigner was branded in her mind. She would never forget this day. A day were she was treated as a punching bag.
