Warning: UPG and contemplations on the idea of Hekate as a Goddess of Storms.
Hekate has come to be associated with storms extensively in contemporary practice. Though I have yet to find any historical reference connecting the two, I have become convinced that Hekate is a Goddess of storms.
Consider the way that big storm fronts form. Two different air masses with different pressures and temperatures collide mid-air, and where they connect at that threshold, is the genesis of the storm. I personally associate Hekate with all things liminal, and that includes the point at which two air masses contact!
Further, Hekate is the light of a torch in the darkness, and the key which opens the door of the home. This image reminds me, again, personally, of lightning across a nighttime sky.
Naturally, as this is a modern concept, though one I personally think is appropriate to Hekate, and perhaps even suggested by her, there are no ancient epithets that directly draw this picture for us. However, I think we can still use a few ancient names for Her in this aspect.
Amaimaketos: Unconquerable/raging/invincible/unapproachable
My favorite kinds of storms scare me a little. It is like the sky is raging. The feeling is overwhelming and humbling. Amaimaketos feels very much like that!
Brimo: Angry one/crackling flame/roarer
Like Amaimaketos, Brimo overwhelms.
Charopos: Fierce/grim/flashing/bright/of the sea
Flashing like lightning, fierce as the wind. The fact that Charopos is associated with the sea and knowing that storms often rise up along the shore thanks to the difference in temperature between the sea and the land just increases the association.
Kratais: strong one/of the rocks
This epithet is also associated with Skylla, the fearsome sea monster. Storms throw ships onto the rocks, and can easily overwhelm a ship.

Like Charopos, I envision lightning when I contemplate this epithet.
