For my final project I wanted to connect myself through a self portrait to my favorite show One Piece. I ended it by having the character wave goodbye to the audience and connect into the real world. My advice for future CAS students is to animate something you enjoy while challenging yourself and you will have a better experience with Animation or whatever medium you choose. Overall have fun.

Working on artist statement because shoulder is recovering

50% post

Here is the redone punch motion that was previously deleted for my 50% check in. following this I will add it to the rest of the project and add the rest of the body.

25% check in. I started rotoscoping the punch after realizing that it would look better considering the dimensions of the punch. While rotoscoping I ran into technical difficulties and consequentially my work on the rotoscoping file was deleted and unable to be recovered. I am approaching it now by using after effects to put the essential parts of the body as well as the video I was rotoscoping from and animating from there to avoid the same error. This video is of what I've completed prior to the rotoscoping with the addition of the character turning pink and steamy.

from this point on I will be making a copy of the project before each class to show my progression as a motion study. the most useful suggestions have been to use sound from the sound and choreagraph movements based on the show

1/17 finish first scene (put arm in pre-punch position and create vanish effect)

2/7 draw other character, land punch, and finish vanish effect

2/20 draw background and effects/sound

3/5 touch up animation

I'm beginning the animation of the steam for my project and finished making him pink

6-week project conclusion

This was my first using frame by frame hand drawn animation. I experienced a lot of challenges with this especially within the shorts due to them needing to be linked with the rest of the body. I did learn a lot about drawing with joints and utilizing the onion skin to make every smoother.

10/11/24

Still working on the stomp. I realized that I need to have everything rotate with the hip so I've moved the stomp to a higher point.

9/27 I have finished the rotation of the shorts and bone tooled the right leg next I will do the same for the left and ground the character to a base point

CAS project

Formy animation I want to animate myself like the character luffy from one piece.

this is the inspiration

due to the amount of detail in the drawings and the frame rate, my hope will be to have at least a second of media. The project will be done on animate and I will draw it frame by frame. My goal is to execute the sequence where the character punches the ground and turns pink and steamy.

I have finished my scenes in animate and now I will start in after effects
