Rocky Research [ Grant & Diantha ]
“Alright, Kyanne, takes us down! The anchors are in place.”
With a swift command called and Grant giving a quick pat to her head, the aurorus whose neck he clung to, suspended high in the air, began to lower her trainer safely to the ground. During his descend, the man kept his eyes on the climbing equipment which he had just finished setting up, starting at the twin set of high anchors, set not too far apart from one another, and scanning every inch of the ropes which they held, checking for any errors or flaws. Hopping off of his Pokémon at the base of the cliffside, he gave a quick nod, satisfied with his work.
The height and texture of the rockface was not all that daunting; even a novice climber could scale it in reasonable time and he, especially, could conquer swiftly. But, despite this, he had wished to gain assistance from one of his trusty partners instead of exerting the energy on reaching the top to set the equipment. After all, he had to save his energy for teaching a soon-to-arrive pupil! And, this oncoming face was no average one.
Grant, as a vast people pleaser and admirer of anyone who takes any interest in any sport or type of competition, loves to give lessons on climbing. From children to seniors, this particular athlete was a very willing instructor. His history in team leadership makes him all the better for the role. Despite his thrill for any set of arms eager to climb, it brought him distinct joy when none other than Diantha, herself, approached him wanting to participate in the activity in order to study for an upcoming role, choosing him as her tutor. Being a Gym Leader in the same league, the two had definitely crossed paths more than once, but never in this type of setting. The idea of sharing his passion to any of his colleagues was exhilarating to him and he was eager to watch her dive in.
For her instruction, he’s decided to start on a shorter scale with a self-retracting line which would lock under any weight, preventing falls, to gain a basis. From there, they’ll move on to manual climbing where they must solely rely on their strength and set their own bolts, but their Pokémon will be there to assist them. Incorporating his partners into his climbs and teaching others to do the same is one of the most rewarding things for Grant, after all. With Grant and Diantha sharing similar rock types, he was especially excited for this instruction.
“Now, we wait,” he spoke with a grin, his aurorus and tyrantrum flanking both sides of his body, the duo seeming just as eager for the day’s adventure as their trainer.
