PHOEBE TONKIN Anthropologie's Fall Collection (2023)
( ❧ ) — TEGAN ARCHER FOR EMILY KELSO, @satellitewar.
“ on the house. ” with two fingers on the base, tegan slides the chilled glass of rosé across the shellacked maplewood counter in one smooth motion. the virginia hotel bar is far fancier than the usual establishments where the traveller finds temporary work, but also pays better, and admittedly, not having to keep track of every last dime in her pocket is nice for a change. she'd even been able to check herself into an airbnb instead of a questionable motel.
of course, the clientele is also of a different sort than that of the dive bars and backwoods diners she has grown accustomed to. case in point: the sole patron sitting at the bar, a beautiful dark-haired and doe-eyed woman, likely to be in her late thirties, effortlessly elegant in professional attire. judging by the face-framing strands starting to gently curl, she must have straightened her hair that morning. now she keeps checking her phone, as if waiting for a call or text.
“ hope i wasn't totally off base with that. rosé tends to be the safest bet if you don't know whether someone likes white or red, ” tegan says breezily, returning the opened bottle to the wine fridge behind her before moving on to polishing crystal glasses with a linen cloth. with a ginger glance, she inquires, “ date stand you up or something? their loss if that's the case. ”
ALICIA VIKANDER as Danny Flinders SUBMERGENCE (2017)
( ❧ ) — RUBY LUCAS FOR MARLOWE RAMSEY, @firsthowl.
ruby moves swiftly through the desiccated, fall-withered forest, its floor covered in a blanket of decaying leaves stripped from the now-naked deciduous trees mixed in with the evergreens. winter nears; the leaves are frosted, rustling as they disintegrate underneath her heeled boot-soles, and snow can be scented on the bone-chilling wind. the wind carries another scent too, musty, masculine, wild, both familiar and un. it is the scent of her lycan kin, her compass, the reason why she ventured out here in the first place.
if there truly is another wolf in storybrooke, she has to find them.
upon her reaching a clearing, silvered by the waxing gibbous moon, the snapping of a branch erupts through the night-quiet forest. the sound stops ruby in her tracks, her head snapping in its direction, ears cocked and nose sniffing at the air. silence falls once again, nothing heard aside from the hooting of an owl in the distance and her own panted breaths. “ i know you're there, ” calls the she-wolf, “ i've been on my feet all day and i'm too tired to play hide and seek, so why don't you come out and say hi? ”
i've been rereading my favourite black widow comics to piece my portrayal together and i have so many thoughts about nat swimming around in my head right now, but particularly the ones about how she's a true girl's girl and champion for wronged women and how deeply i love her for it.
it's time to make good on my new year's resolution to be consistently active on here, so interact with this post for a short to medium-length starter; please specify a muse, and for whom you want it if you also have a multi, or you will be subjected to my whims. 🧡

TEGAN ARCHER.
at only eight years old, tegan saw her first ghost. she woke up in the middle of the night to a shadow of a person standing at the foot of her bed. the shadow soon dissipated, and ever fearless tegan shrugged it off and went back to sleep, thinking it had been no more than a nightmare. little did she know, this incident was only the first of many to come. soon they began appearing everywhere: strange people no one else seemed to see, there one second and gone the next. when tegan slipped up and mentioned the sightings at school, her teachers assumed she had a large gallery of imaginary friends and contacted her parents out of concern for her mental health.
tegan's mother isabelle immediately realised what was going on. despite not having the gift of clairvoyance herself, she had grown up around sensitive women in own family. isabelle contacted her mother, tegan's grandmother frances, who also possessed the sight. frances began guiding tegan through the ins and outs of clairvoyance and mediumship and helped her cope with the eerie voices now sharing her mind. tegan soon realised the easiest way to cope with the spirits of the dead that sought her out was to assist them in moving on. she also learned not to mention her gift or the spirits to anyone, out of fear of not being believed.
inspired by her father rhys, a failed author originating in wales, tegan went on to gain a master's degree in english language and literature from stanford university. as she was not interested in research or teaching, her career options were limited upon graduation. she ended up moving back home to phoenix, where she worked as a bookstore clerk at a barnes & noble, and for a few years it was her dream job. eventually tegan succumbed to boredom and her overwhelming desire for adventure. she quit her job to take another page out of her father's book, namely travelling. rhys had told her about the backpacking adventures of his youth, and tegan had always dreamed of doing something similar.
she gave up her apartment and put most of her possessions in a rented storage unit, packed up her red 1987 chevy camaro and hit the road. currently she's on a road trip across the united states, picking up odd bartending or waitressing jobs in order to make ends meet and finance her travels. you are most likely to find tegan at various diners, bars, restaurants, motels, gas stations, and haunted locations across the country.
name: tegan caron archer
age: thirty-four
fandom: original lore
face claim: phoebe tonkin
tegan has affectionately nicknamed her chevy "betty". she has no fear of ghosts, and would happily fistfight a poltergeist if need be, but is terrified of all other supernatural creatures. a portion of anna akhmatova's poem "you will hear thunder" is tattooed atop the ribs on her left side, and she also has a scar on her right knee from a childhood bicycle accident. tegan speaks english and spanish fluently, but also knows rudimentary latin and welsh.
MAGDALENA "MAGS" ANDERSSON.
magdalena, born and raised in des moines, iowa, started dancing classical ballet at only six years old. being a fast learner who possessed a natural litheness and grace, mags was able to pick up advanced choreography with ease and execute the movements beautifully from the start. those who saw her dance in her adolescence would describe it as her becoming one with the music, moving as fluidly as water, making it clear to mags' teacher evelyn clarke that she had a prodigy on her hands.
mags was just shy of eighteen when a scout from the new york city university centre for ballet and the arts watched her perform and offered her a scholarship. fate had other plans for her, though; a week before her high school graduation, mags came home from a late ballet practice to the front door pulled off its hinges, her mother, father, and younger sister all dead, murdered by a pack of vampires that had broken into the house. the tragedy broke mags, who set out for revenge; she abandoned any and all plans for a future as a ballerina, instead asking the hunter rufus turner who showed up to dispose of the vampire nest to train her.
mags has devoted her life to hunting the supernatural and spends most of her time on the lonely road, travelling from motel to motel in her crappy black alfa romeo from the 1990s.
name: magdalena elizabeth andersson
age: thirty-five
fandom: supernatural
face claim: emilia clarke
mags is 5'2" but has the attitude of someone who is 6'2". she specialises in hunting vampires, but will take on other cases too. she loves her jack daniels a little too much and always keeps a bottle in the glove compartment. her preferred nickname is mags, but some hunters have taken to calling her polly pocket because they know it will rile her up; that is not recommended, though, unless you want to end up with a nasty black eye.

— Gillian Flynn, from Gone Girl
DRAGON AGE: THE VEILGUARD PROMPTS PT 1 * assorted dialogue from the first hour of the video game
somebody's gotta stop him... and that's where you come in.
so... where were we?
our story begins where all great stories begin: with the seediest bar in town and a missing contact.
let's try this again.
you think you can come into my bar and make demands?
i'm not leaving until i know where she is.
be ready to talk by the time i get to you.
darling... you're adorable.
for the record, there was probably an easier way to do that than fighting an entire bar.
what'd i have to worry about? you were there watching my back.
break's over.
something must have gotten them riled up.
should we be in more of a hurry to get out of here?
i have to talk him down.
are they after us?
we don't have time to get arrested.
you're safe now. get inside and bar the doors.
there are a lot of scared people out here.
what about you two? are you okay?
have you got my gear?
can you get us there, [name]?
this is nowhere near my neighborhood.
eyes up! we've got company!
used to fight these assholes every day.
i'm back on the job.
isn't that a coincidence?
you said you had a lead?
that's where your man is hiding.
you told me he was working alone.
i'll take it from here.
take care of the team for me.
hope i'm not interrupting.
let's buy him some time.
i have taken precautions to minimize the damage.
people are dying right now.
you need to listen. please.
people are always dying. it is what they do.
shit. we need a better plan.
what if we disrupt the ritual?
the storm could tear you apart.
you came a long way and made a valiant effort.
this story does not end in my downfall.
you have no idea what you have done.
i know what i did.
i was not destroying the world.
why am i here?
had i the power to control you, i would have already used it.
get out of my head!
i do not want to be here any more than you do.
what are you talking about?
thanks to you, though, i am now trapped.
you were innocently doing nothing when we came along.
[name] always said you'd have a big explanation for why none of this was your fault.
i am certain you will be fine.
you don't get to sit back and look smug!
what else could i possibly do?
you will soon see what i was trying to prevent.
this is your responsibility now.
look who's still with us!
trust me. i've had worse. gonna take more than a flesh wound to stop me.
turns out, you were right.
the plan did go a little wrong.
i should have come up with a better plan.
you worked with what you had. and you succeeded, by the way.
[name]. you've got this. i've seen your work.
there's a reason i dragged you into this whole mess.
you're clever. adaptable. and you don't know when to quit.
sorry, i didn't mean to barge in.
i really need to look around.
we should talk about things.
i'll work with it. you know me.
maybe our paths haven't crossed, but i know our work has.
we've just got to start somewhere.
this is a dangerous job. everyone knew that signing on.
you don't slow down for much, do you?
let's stop worrying about me and go do that.
come get me when you're ready to go.
you're sure that wasn't just a dream?
i'm not certain of anything.
we're not out of danger.
we need to get out there and stop them.
we can't just sit here and do nothing.
we need to investigate. figure out what we're dealing with before we rush in and make things worse.
this time, if we see a shot, we take it.
you sure you're up for this?
it's not working! i can't contain it!
you all were supposed to stop him.
it didn't go as cleanly as we hoped.
things just got a whole lot worse.
let's just say they weren't known for their kindness.
you're in no condition to fight.
