I think the people following crush are by now more fan of your work than fan of whru/ttft and... for what I have seen, the way you see the actor that interpreted Fighter affected the way you see Fighter
so why don't you invest more in your work than in ttft? I mean you can develop the ships you like to work on. I know you said crush will continue but if you are not comfortable with it anymore the readers will notice it and it won't make happy anyone. Like I said the readers at this moment are reading your work because it's your writing so they probably will continue with you even if you change the main ship. And ttft ship is dead so the readers won't come for that but they can come for your stories
Maybe you will say that Fighter is already your character but how? you can even see his face like you can with War, Mark and Tutor 🤷♀️
This messages addresses an issue which Chaz and me have been struggling with for the last weeks, months honestly. So actually thanks for writing us about it!
It’s undeniable that Crush is for us at a difficult spot. Soon we’ll have to make a decision about if and how it’s going to continue. Because it most certainly can’t continue the way it’s going right now. I think that should be obvious simply by looking at the update speed.
Many things have happened since we started Crush, many things happened that we couldn’t have foreseen and some which we should’ve. The fandom around WRU, around TTFT, around Saint and Zee, the Thai BL fandom in general - it all changed in ways that have pushed Crush into a really difficult position for us. There’s been a lot of outside factors negatively influencing this story and a lot of personal factors. This was our first project together - driven by a lot of passion, excitement and we’ve been new to many things so there’s been a bit (or maybe a lot) of naïveté.
The cost-benefit-analysis of Crush has become increasingly difficult to justify.
We love the story still. It is our first baby after all, but… we’re not sure if we can or want to tell it in the way we initially planned to at this point.
On the other hand we know what the expectations of the small remaining circles of readers are and don’t want to disappoint those. And we don’t want to lose our lovely readers, the friends we made along the way.
We’ve bee wondering the same things you thought about! Should we just force ourselves to see Crush through the way we initially planned it? Will this do us or our readers any good? Can we change Crush in a way that turns it again in a story we want to tell? But people came here with the expectation to read a TTFT fanfiction and… it most likely wouldn’t stay one in that case, so this feels disingenuous too. Should we simple give it an earlier ending or drop it altogether?
We have stories we want to tell you, we don’t want to stop writing (and we couldn’t if we tried), but we want to give you stories with… passion, that don’t feel as restricted by a tiny, almost nonexistent fandom at this point, as lovely as it’s been. You really asked an important question there - why don’t we invest more into our work than in TTFT? That’s the big question.
We’re at crossroads here and we want to be transparent about it. And all we can hope is really that it’s actually true - that people aren’t here for TTFT anymore but because they genuinely enjoy our writing, our work.
That all being said - for now it’s definitely still the plan to write the last chapter of Phase 2 of Crush and afterwards this won’t be a decision we can postpone any longer. We’re always happy to hear about your thoughts and opinions, so thank you 💙❤️
