Greeting starter for @gravity-lord-rises
“…Lotus. It has been a while.”
The magician stood in the doorway of the Resistance’s small infirmary, the shining rod held at his side. His tense shoulders were indicative enough of his wariness towards the spirit, the memories of the crimes he and his sister had committed under the Black Mage still weighing on his mind.
Unlike Guwaru, Luminous could not be certain as to their allegiance. It had been easy enough with the nature spirit, its figure no longer discoloured with dark magic. It was harder to tell with literal spirits of darkness. Orchid may have saved the infiltrator and Edelstein, but were those genuine acts of goodwill or done out of mere spite for Gelimar? It seemed only time would tell.
Eyes were trained on Lotus as the mage left his stave at the door, his other hand going to slide a leather strap off his shoulder. The satchel, filled almost to bursting at the seams, would be placed on the edge of the hospital bed, its lid opened to reveal spines of books. They were all of varying thickness and age.
Alchemy 101, A Beginner’s Guide to Foraging, Monsters of Victoria Island, The Magic Porridge Pot….
“I was told you wanted more reading materials. We were unsure as to which genre you preferred but-” He pushed the satchel closer to the spirit. “We thought your namesake might point us in the right direction.”
Evan’s idea. The boy had wanted to deliver it himself, but Luminous was not going to let the last Onyx Dragon and dragon master walk into danger so foolishly.
Lotus immediately sits up, hearing someone enter and speak his name. He's initially rather shocked, seeing who it is – calming down a little when he realizes it's not the White Mage. Of course, it couldn't be. That's impossible a million times over... but then the boy's mind turns to why Luminous cared enough to pay him a visit.
He listens quietly, watching as the mage showed off how many books he'd brought. It's true, he did make it known he was running out of new books; he'd finished off everything the Resistance had around in barely any time at all. But... Lotus didn't expect another of the heroes to be the one to come offer them.
...This is that 'awkward' feeling that humans feel. He'd at least been around the Resistance members for a while now. But all the heroes also knew what all he'd done, and he's got no idea what their opinions about him might be. For all his paranoid mind knows, maybe they were actually planning to end his life. This guy is friends with Phantom, right?
“O-oh...!” Lotus speaks up, trying not to sound too nervous as he looks through the titles. Then, he remembers the proper response to something like this. “You brought all this for me? Thank... you.”
“I didn't know you were the one getting them. I, ah... thought you all would still hate me.”
