Shaving tips:

Soften hair before shaving with warm water. Cleansing helps to remove oil and makes hair stand more erect, allowing an easier shave with less irritation. Use shaving cream or gel to moisten the hair and to help lubricate the razor blade on the skin. Shave with the grain using downward strokes and shave in the same direction as the hair lies. This will also minimize irritation as well as preventing ingrown hairs.

Don't stretch the skin while shaving. This leads to a closer shave and increases the chances of ingrown hairs. Rinse your razor as often as possible while shaving.
