Put This On’s Summer of White Tees 2014
It’s here!
Since the first thaw, people have been emailing me about whether our annual group buy of Alternative Apparel t-shirts would return. Good news: it has!
Here’s the deal: AA’s t-shirts are among my favorites, but they’re a bit pricey at $24 each. Luckily, I have a wholesale account with Alternative (I use it to buy blank shirts for my podcast network), so once a year I make a huge group buy of t-shirts.
You pay $9.90 each, plus a flat $6 shipping charge per style, and we send you as many shirts as you want.
This year, we’re offering both white and heather grey, in both crew and v-necks. We ship only to the US (sorry). Here’s a size chart if you need it. These shirts are very soft and lighter weight - perfect for undershirts and warm weather, but less so for folks looking for something super-stout.
Again, it’s a group buy: we’ll take orders until Thursday the 3rd, then place our order with Alternative. That’ll go to our fulfillment center, and go out to you from there. The whole process takes roughly six weeks, and we don’t accept any returns. Too special of a deal.
If you want to get in on this year’s Summer of White Tees, place your order here, now.
Anyone done this before? I'm trying to figure out if these are the same as the ones I can get on Amazon for cheaper (because of free shipping) and faster:

Cheaney Sale
Just got an email that the annual Cheaney sale is starting. There's some pretty good deals:

I'm particularly interested in these Ghillie tie tweed brogues (for Fall of course)
Gaziano & Girling. (at KEVIN SEAH, 55B Boat Quay, Singapore 049844)
This goes rapidly in the top 10 of my wish list…
Inspired by Champion's glory days, the Todd Snyder collaboration is a collectible part of sartorial history. Made to maximize versatility and utility, each piece in the line offers a comfort-minded cool to age-old essentials. Cuffed sweatpants, graphic tees and shawl collar sweatshirts represent the modern merge of loungwear as street style.
Amazing deals on Todd Snyder Champion gear at Hautelook. I picked up one of the pocket sweatshirts on eBay this Spring and I love it.... So I just picked up another one. This is over 50% off, so they'll go quick.
If you haven't signed up for Hautelook before, you can use my referral link if you'd like... Full disclosure: I think I get something back if you do.
Heritage Brand Logo Generator?
Does anyone remember that heritage brand logo generator from last year? I need it but I can't seem to find it again. If anyone has a link let me know.
This has to be the Frank Clegg alligator. I want this so much.

How Yoox Does It
The images are created by 60 photographers in 55 studios, long rows of square black boxes in another Yoox complex. Here straight-on but still seductive product shots for yoox.com and the many mono-brand sites are cranked out with martial efficiency. Brand representatives come and go to make sure that their precious product is being shot exactly as they would like (one of the many complexities of partnering with 37 of the most controlling brands in the world). Still, at peak times 15,000 pieces are shot each day. In another part of the warehouse Fun-Tom, an automated system using 41 moving Plexiglas mannequins, can shoot 200 outfits in an hour. Yoox has also developed its own software, Turn-Oh, which can stitch together 30 shots to create 360-degree animations. There are separate warehouses for folded items and hanging items; another is being built just for shoes.
From Nick Compton’s excellent Telegraph article on Yoox and its founder, Federico Marchetti.

So how do they consistently style jackets so poorly? Seriously, don't button all of the buttons.
Beige suit by Ralph Lauren with boutonniere, would you wear it? Check our Boutonnieres here » http://www.gentlemansgazette.com/shop/accessories
I have a PRL by Corneliani beige suit like this that's a favorite in the Summer. Sadly it's not a 3-piece.
Assuming Winter ever ends I'm looking forward to breaking it out.

#vintage #WWII #US #Army #infantry #mens #coat. This coat is double breasted with adjustable belted back. Made from heavy cheviot twill wool. It was good enough for your grandfather to wear when he was slugging it out with the nazis and destroying fascism. And it’s good enough to keep you blanketed in warmth this winter. Measures approx; Chest-22”, Shoulders-19”, Sleeves-25”, Length-49”. $150.00 #menswear #militaria #uniform #1940s (at Briar Vintage)
ISAIA, once again, is leading the pack with their incredible execution of mixing different textures and fabrics.
I love the subtle colors and textures in the bottom one
Winter Boots
I’m heading off to Canada for the holidays, where there are real winters. San Francisco has been rather mild this season, save for one bitter cold spell, but in Canada, it starts to snow in December. It doesn’t get as bad as Russia, but it gets bad enough to need real winter boots.
Two that I’m bringing are these by James Purdey & Sons and Edward Green. The Purdeys are field sport boots originally meant for hunting, but I think they make for excellent general-purpose boots when the weather turns foul. The bottoms have studded Dainite rubber soles for extra gripping, and the bellow tongues help prevent water from leaking around the laces. The only problem is that they take a while to put on. The speed hooks are a great help, but you still have to explain to any company you’re with why you have to buckle down four straps when you’re both just going out to grab some quick lunch. Luckily, that extended shaft, which comes about mid-calf, gives some excellent added protection should you have to face cold shoulders.
