Hello all. Please send me pictures of horrible architecture (real, no AI). I write. A lot. A great deal of my writing ends up here. Currently, I am writing The Dark Crystal fanfiction most often. The things I reblog often include art, and fandoms including RotG, Labyrinth, Venom, Animorphs, Babylon 5, Abarat, light, shadow, water, masks, poetry, and bad humor.

A lot of people are ragging on the 'cable diverted to avoid Dobby's grave after Harry Potter fans raise a stink' thing and while I also love ragging on Harry Potter fans being weird, in this case it looks like the story was completely made up.

tl;dr: There's no evidence the interview that this was mentioned in even exists, no evidence the route of the cable has ever changed, and the whole story seems to originate from one dude's podcast.

The story also broke into mainstream via the Daily Mail, who are ... rarely if ever honest or accurate.

hi, i never got into the rotg fandom bc it always seemed to expansive for me, however i am older now and am struggling to find a place to start in reading and fics. i found a nice master list you made in 2017 that im still reading thru, but im curious if you know of, or remember, any users i can go back and find some more stuff to read/consume! if not, that’s okay! i imagine its been a while, thanks tho!!

I don't know exactly what your tastes are for Rise of the Guardians fic, but my favorite pairing is Pitch/Sandy (blacksand), so the people I know from RotG fandom are those who wrote at least some blacksand.

I also enjoyed an offshoot AU that became known as Nightmare Dork University, which involved four different versions of Pitch, but @sylphidine (Ao3: Sylphidine_Gallimaufry) might be able to explain that better at this point.

I want to contrast the image of my aesthetic tomatoes and basil with this other situation from today:

The scene: morning, I'm sitting on my couch drinking an iced coffee.

Suddenly! A sharp popping noise, very startling and also very mysterious. There shouldn't be anything in my apartment under pressure. I look around for clues, and to my horror, I quickly solve the mystery.

A pysanky egg that I made in the spring and have been keeping on a bookshelf so that I remember to turn it so that it dries out evenly has. Well. Not dried out. In fact it has exploded, and the insides are very goopy and horrible indeed!

It's on my books. It's on the other knick-knacks that were next to the egg. It's obviously on the shelf. Shell fragments and goop drops are all over the carpet, and even on a chair and the coffee table.

It all smells horrendous, of course, so my plans for this morning are immediately derailed since I have to clean up exploded rotten egg RIGHT NOW or I'll regret it.

Even after cleaning the smell lingered, and I left my sliding door open in the 90% humidity for like an hour and a half to try to help with the egg stank (unclear if this did help). Removing the trash with the yucky paper towels and burning a scented candle for about three hours seems to have solved the Smell.

(I've let pysanky dry out before, I don't know why this went so horribly. All future eggs like this will be blown empty.)

RIP...and this was where I would put a picture of the egg that exploded, but it looks like I never actually took one :/

Some tomatoes and basil from the plants I grew on my balcony! A storm really did a lot of damage to my tomato plant this weekend, so I might not get any more tomatoes than this. But! This is still more tomatoes than I would have had if I hadn't tried.

Someone asked me a while ago if I still had a photo of the worst sink I had ever seen while apartment hunting in Los Angeles. I assumed I deleted it so I didn't answer the ask and now it's gone, but as it turns out, yes, I do still have a photo of it.

The tailors at Colonial Williamsburg made a suit for their cat

The best part is that they were inspired by a diary entry from 1775, written by a 12 year old tailor’s apprentice who had been left unsupervised all day and decided to make a suit for a cat. Here’s a link to the blog post about it, but I’ll just paste the whole diary entry here:

“I had been at work about two months when Christmas came on – and here I must relate a little anecdote. The principal [the tailor] and his lady were invited to a party among their friends…while it devolved on me to stay at home and keep house. There was nothing left me in charge to do, only to take care of the house. There was a large cat that generally lay about the fire. In order to try my mechanical powers, I concluded to make a suit of clothing for puss, and for my purpose gathered some scraps of cloth that lay about the shop-board, and went to work as hard as I could. Late in the evening I got my suit of clothes finished; I caught the cat, put on the whole suit – coat, vest, and small-clothes [breeches] – buttoned all on tight, and set down my cat to inspect the fit. 

“Unfortunately for me there was a hole through the floor close to the fireplace, just large enough for the cat to pass down; after making some efforts to get rid of the clothes, and failing, pussy descended through the hole and disappeared; the floor was tight and the house underpinned with brick, so there was no chance of pursuit. I consoled myself with a hope that the cat would extricate itself from its incumbrance, but not so; night came and I had made on a good fire and seated myself for some two or three hours after dark, when who should make their appearance but my master and mistress and two young men, all in good humor, with two or three bottles of rum. After all were seated around the fire, who should appear amongst us but the cat in his uniform. I was struck speechless, the secret was out and had no chance of concealing; the cat was caught, the whole work inspected and the question asked, is this your day’s work? I was obliged to answer in the affirmative; I would then have been willing to take a good whipping, and let it stop there, but no, to complete my mortification the clothes were carefully taken off the cat and hung up in the shop for the inspection of all customers that came in.”
