It is honestly a crime that I haven’t seen any pics of Sinéad Burke at the Met Gala on my dash.
Not the camp-iest outfit but she is amazing and we need more disability visibility.
She is also so stylish omg
I was asked to post a first day of work outfit. Black slacks, blazer and grey top paired with black boots (not so much in the pic). I always like a simple outfit when you first start to get s feel of the office culture. You will start to see patterns in dress at different offices. At one place I worked many of the women wore dresses and slacks were the exception, At another place dresses where frowned on. So I always opt for a simple style until you get a feel for the culture of the work place.

Another Parsons Assignment here 😊 I was asked to look at jobs I would like and identify one skill it required that I would like to develop. I have been looking at several photography jobs because that is an interest of mine. I took a photography class at the community college and really loved it. In one in particular it talked about experience photographing product and developing sets. These are two areas that I have little experience in but would like to develop. I have photographed family portraits and landscapes but have not focused much on product. Like wise I have never designed a set typically using found areas. I am looking forward to working on these areas further.

I have been working on the Parsons Industry Essentials program and for one of the assignments I got to create this necklace. For this assignment I get to price out production costs 😊
As you can see above the total manufacturing costs are $2.25. If I want to make a 20% profit that would raise the price to $3.82. I personally feel that a profit margin of $0.64 is a bit slim and would like to raise it to $1.50 maybe higher. Depending on if I was planning to sell this whole sale or not would also make a difference in the price I set.
After talking to some friends and family members they expressed that they would be willing to pay between $5 and $10 for the necklace which I found encouraging as my costs were below that.
I thought this was a great exercise to get an idea about production. I got to price out supplies from different sources and consider price vs quality of these supplies. I also learned that my math skills are rusty lol. Even in the creative fields you need mat. Your math teacher was right! You do use it every day.
What do you think?
