Recipe: the perfect iced coffee

Forget Starbucks. Make your own damn iced coffee.

Instructions:

Make sure your container is cold before you brew.

Grind your coffee a little finer than traditional filter batch brew.

Weigh your coffee: 165 grams (Don’t give us that look. You want the perfect coffee, right? So, get yourself a kitchen scale! Geez. )

Weigh your ice: 750 grams

Measure hot water for brewing: 1,800 grams

Brew directly over ice and cool immediately. Brew time should be extended as long as possible – approximately seven minutes.

Need more information? Have faith. You can do it.

And don’t be afraid to fail … or experiment. Don’t lose sight of the goal: to discover the magic coffee-to-ice ratio that meets your own very specific tastes and brings you immense pleasure.

Plant witches! I’ve discovered a great new way to save money on planters (at least little ones any way). Basically if you’re a coffee or tea drinker who uses a Keurig, you don’t need to throw away the cups after you use them! And it’s a very easy process to get them ready for planting. So basically it goes like this. Dump out the coffee grinds/tea leaves and then remove the filter. When you do so you’ll see a tiny plastic disc with holes in it at the bottom that can be removed. I chose to keep mine in, because I didn’t have any pebbles small enough to place in the bottom to help with drainage, so this works well enough! Keep in mind that there is already a hole in the bottom of the cup from when it was used for your drink. Then from there all that needs to be done is to fill it up with dirt and put in your plant. It’s simple and cute! I hope this helps anyone out who needs a plant pot in a pinch!
