Opening today at the #bodobiennale, Norway: Spencer Tunick’s BODØ BODYSCAPE installation, with Little Sun Diamonds. #littlesunenergy ‘I have always been interested in solar. When I thought of making a work with people holding individual solar lights a few years ago, I researched traditional lights as well as solar lights. I felt that it takes individuals coming together with new ideas and ways of living to make mass change. Change in the environment will only come if the individual feels the effect of alternative light and energy sources up close and personal. Connecting the body and the flesh to this light force to really meld the human to the message in an elemental way. In the early stages of my research, I came across the Little Sun Original, but I felt that the yellow colour en masse would overpower the photograph. When the Little Sun Diamond was announced, I was elated. This could be the light for my work. I felt that the contemporary crystal design would work wonderfully. I contacted Olafur Eliasson, the designer of the solar light, to ask permission to use it, and his studio gave me the green light.
