Pansexual is a term referring to those who feel attraction to all genders, regardless of their sex or gender identity. Sometimes, the word can be used to differentiate from the term bisexuality, as it refers to a lack of preference. Some may see bisexuality as an umbrella term that includes pansexuality, while others may see it as having distinctions.
The flag was designed in 2010 by Jasper V on Tumblr under the user pansexualflag, sometime before August 6th. The pink and blue are to represent attraction that falls within the gender binary, with the yellow symbolizing joy and happiness, as well as non-binary attraction.

Aromanticism refers to those who experience little to no romantic attraction. This is not the same as being asexual, which is described as a lack of sexual attraction. Aromanticism may include attraction that is not necessarily romantic. Aromantics may also experience sexual attraction, or they may not. If one experiences little to no romantic and sexual attraction, then they may consider themselves aroace.
The first version of the aromantic flag featured green, yellow, orange, and black, created by an unknown creator. The aromantic flag was then redesigned by Cameron Whimsy in 2014. The flag features dark green representing aromanticism, light green for the aromantic spectrum, white for platonic or aesthetic attraction, grey for grey-romantic or demiromantic people, and black for the sexuality spectrum.

Intersex refers to those who are born with genitalia, chromosomes, and/or reproductive organs that do not fit the typical female/male binary. For example, they may have a mix of both reproductive organs, or their genitalia may not reflect their reproductive organs. Intersex people may be assigned a gender at birth and choose to identify with another gender later in life.
In July 2013, Morgan Carpenter created the intersex flag. The purple and yellow were picked as they were free from any association with gender, and the circle in the middle was selected to represent wholeness and completion.

Asexuality is an umbrella term for multiple different identities, but is mainly used to describe those who experience little to no sexual attraction. Asexuality is not the same as abstention from sexual activity or celibacy, as those are motivated by personal or religious beliefs. The asexual flag was created in 2010 during a competition held by the Asexual Visibility and Education Network by user “standup”. The black represents asexuality, the gray represents gray-sexuality or demi-sexuality, the white represents allosexuality, and the purple represents the community as a whole. - - - Follow @_grovedesigns for more art and history! - - - Stickers are available at our vendors and Etsy! - - - Research, art, writing done by @sayijo
The term “transgender” is an umbrella term to describe one whose gender identity differs from the one they were assigned at birth. This can also include people who are gender-queer or those who are nonbinary. Gender identity is different from sexual orientation, as those who are transgender can have a variety of orientations. On June 28, 1969, a group of police men raided the Stonewall Inn in New York City. Angered by the constant harassment of police, patrons threw beer bottles and other debris. This started the first of the Stonewall riots, led by prominent trans activists like Marsha P Johnson. In 1999, Monica Helms designed the trans flag, with the blue and pink meaning boys and girls, and the white representing gender nonconformity or transition. - - - Follow @grovedesignsart for more art and history! - - - Research and writing done by @sayijo
“Bisexuality” is romantic and/or sexual attraction towards more than one gender. Being bisexual does not mean that it is a 50/50 split between attraction, as people can have a preference for one gender over the other.
The bisexual flag was first designed in 1998 by Michael Page, an activist who used a colour palette created by Liz Nania. The pink stripe represents attraction to the same sex, the blue stripe represents attraction to the other sex, and the purple in the middle signifies the overlap of attraction.

The term “gay” represents those whose romantic and/or sexual attraction is the same as their own gender identity. People of other identities may consider themselves gay, however, it is a specific term used to describe men who are attracted to men. The word also means happiness and carefree.
The flag, featuring blue, green, and white, was made in 2019 by Tumblr user gayflagblog. The greens represent community and healing, the whites for trans identities, and the blues represent strength and diversity. This flag is also known as the Vincian flag.

“Lesbian” refers to women who are attracted to other women, however more recently, the definition has expanded to refer to a non-men attraction to women, as “lesbian” also can refer to a general queer/sapphic attraction towards women.
The first lesbian flag was made in 1999 by graphic designer Sean Campbell, which featured a double-headed axe on an upside-down black triangle on a purple background. The axe was seen as a symbol of lesbian empowerment, and the purple refers to poetry of Sappho.
The new orange/white/pink flag was designed by Tumblr user Emily Gwen in 2018. The dark orange represents “gender non-conformity”, orange for “independence”, white for “unique relationships to womanhood”, pink for “serenity and peace”, and dark pink for “femininity”

Pride month, from June 1st to the 30th, is a month in which we celebrate LGBTQ+ pride, and commemorate the contributions of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer culture and community. Every day this week, we will be sharing the history of Pride and the many identities this community includes.
In 1978, Gilbert Baker created the first rainbow flag, with him and a group of volunteers making flags that were flown for the San Francisco Gay Freedom Day on June 25th of the same year. Baker wanted the flag mass produced, but due to production issues, the pink and turquoise stripes were removed and indigo was replaced by basic blue.
In June 2018, designer Daniel Quasar redesigned the pride flag, incorporating features from the trans flag to focus on progress and inclusion. In 2021, Valentino Vecchietti redesigned the progress flag made by Daniel Quasar, thus making the Intersex-Inclusive Pride flag.
