His hands naturally rubbed her as a gesture of comfort. Having stopped their little arrangement ever since the announcement, Braxton missed having her in his arms. The wolf convinced himself that it was because they haven’t hung out in a while and he just missed having a friend around.
While she did tell him that he was free of any responsibility, Brax had taken a note to keep an eye on the human. This was his mess and despite his appearance, he was actually panicking as much as Grace was. “You’re going to be fine, Keller.” He reassured her once more and believed his own words. Grace was a very capable woman and he knew that she was going to be fine no matter - he was going to help out even if she told him not to. The beta knew that he couldn’t really hide it from the pack for eternity anyways. But he hadn’t quite figured out how to handle it all.
Getting to his car, he opened the passenger door for her before getting to his side. The drive was fast - advantages of being in a small town, nothing was that far apart. Within the hour, Braxton had gotten them there. “Am I allowed to go in with you? I don’t.. really know how this works..” He chuckled, keeping the mood light.
“I’m glad you think so,” Grace chuckled softly. It was strange, she had to admit, to have his support like this even after everything she had said. She knew he was stubborn and that was partially what drew her to him, but there were only so many times that someone was told that they didn’t have to be involved before they got the picture and disappeared and, quite honestly, she didn’t want that. Never had. Braxton was IT for her, and knowing that the other didn’t think that about her was the fuel behind her asking for him to step back. “It would kind of suck if I wasn’t...” she tried to joke.
Once the door had been opened, Grace slipped into the vehicle and pulled on the seatbelt. Her eyebrow arched in surprise as it took a little bit more effort to pull it over the bump that was forming nicely under her jacket. Once the belt was clipped in, her hand went back to her stomach and rested there. It was real, she thought. The idea of having a child was becoming more real with every passing day. Though she could do without the daily sickness that served as a reminder.
“Neither do I, really,” she admitted as she turned her head to face him. “I’m just as new to this as you are,” she managed a small smile. “Do you -- do you WANT to go in with me?” She tried to keep all sense of pleading out of her voice. She was still incredibly nervous and the butterflies in her stomach was NOT helping the situation at all. “It would be nice to have a familiar face in there with me...”
It would be nice to have HIM in there... holding her hand... holding her...
