I'm working on a fast touring version of the microBootlegger Sport. I'm trying to determine how much volume to give the bow. The top version is lower volume, the bottom version is higher volume. Adding volume also adds surface area which increases the weight. Estimated Material Requirements

This table give the basic material requirements for building most of my boat designs. The forms for most of these boats can generally be made from 1 sheet of ~1/2" MDF. The larger boats such as the Coot, Guide Boat, and Noank Pulling Boat may need a bit more.

For more precise material calculations you can look at my Strip Material Calculator.

"N/A" means "Not Applicable", for example the stitch and glue boats do not need a strongback so they are N/A in strongback length.

Kayaking Class Gear List:

Paddlng safely in ocean water requires you pay attention to water temperature and conditions. You generally want to dress for the water temperature, not the air temperature. You should also plan on carrying other gear that will help protect you or provide a layer of safety while paddling. The gear list provided here is tailored towards summer paddling in Maine. Local conditions where you paddle may dictate variations in this list.
