that little flash of lincoln in octavia’s mind hurt me
You're telling me we spent years building a redemption arc for Justin who started off as a stoner bully who did Terrible things to people. To an addict living on the streets with no family. to having gotten clean , found a family, and made good friends. Who spent the last season talking about college and how he wants to survive only be killed off in the series finale
I went on a rant not too long ago saying that if you review books, movies, or tv shows made for Black people to basically be careful and here's what sparked that. I was searching reviews for Children of Blood and Bone on YouTube and the black reviewers that I found loved the book. They were honest and a lot of them were just genuinely happy for a book like this. Now the white reviewers and this one Asian girl I saw were much...harsher I guess you could say but they all eventually said something along the lines of" I can't relate to this book" or " The plot sucks and it's not interesting." Like I said before, we're not stupid and we know these words mean" I'm not in this book so I don't like it." This is not ok. That is still being racist because the fact that you can't enjoy something because you're not involved in it in any way shape or form says a lot. Now could someone just not have enjoyed the book? Yes. That is definitely a case but that's not the case this time. A lot of you are problematic and you need to check yourself. Quickly.
