Requesting Emergency Rent Relief For A Disabled Black Senior!
so my county’s rental assistance programs wont have a quick enough turn around to help keep one of my elderly disabled clients from losing their housing (deadline is tomorrow, the 10th) and im gonna have to ask my online community to step in to help a really nice older Black man who’s dealt with chronic homelessness for years before being placed where i work that provides permanent housing to those most impacted by homelessness.
The property management company that owns the building has put forth a new agreement to forgive years of past due back rent for the residents who have a balance, in exchange for signing the agreement to pay this month’s rent and so on moving forward. if not, the residents who refuse will receive pay or quit notices and be evicted, with the consequence of losing section 8 voucher eligibility if they managed to obtain it. Most if not all, the residents here are seniors, on disability/SSI and have complex mental health issues & are actively recovering or in the process of recovering, from substance dependence.
The client im trying to get help for has been an exemplary tenant with no lease violations or behavioral issues & has only a portion of the necessary amount of rent he has to pay, but property management is not budging on paying in full or else, eviction. He needs a money order of $382 by tomorrow morning.
He isn’t able to make a payment app due to a previous partner misusing them and getting him banned, so i will be temporarily using my links (with screenshots of each donation for transparency) to meet this goal in time. i want to be able to go make the money order for his rent before i get off work at 5:30 pm (PST).
