It’s kind of funny how we think we need to change the year to change ourselves. As if writing a six instead of a five will cause us to stop smoking cigarettes or hand in our assignments in on time. We think we will feel the change in the world so hard that it will change our behaviour and our personality and our bad habits and our interactions with others. But writing a different date in the top righthand corner of a page doesn’t mean you’ll kick an addiction or get your sleep pattern right. You have to work for the things you want and it’s not going to be pretty or fun but it sure as hell will be worth it. I guess my point is that if you needed a sign to do it, this is it. Start talking to your father again. Start walking more and drinking more water. Tell that girl you love her.
