Starting a new Life // closed RP Avery Bennet & Gwendolyn Lyker
He was nervous, god was he nervous. Avery felt a bit sick and just to make sure he looked around searching for a trash can. Maybe he would have to vomit if he had to wait for much longer. Breathing in and out, slowly, he tried to calm down. His hand were softly shaking while he hold the papers from his psychologist he had to give to Dr. Lyker.
Avery raised his head when his name was called. For a few seconds he stared at the woman infront of him, before he got up on his feets, quickly, to shake her hand. “Avery Bennet. It’s a pleasure for me too” he said with a nervous smile and nodded. He followed her quietly into the room. “I brought some more papers you might want to look at”
Gwen lead him over to some chairs by her desk. "Let's talk a little before we start the appointment, shall we?" Once he was seated she took the papers and sat in her own chair, flipping through them. It didn't tell her anything new that was relevant to her job. "Well. Your psychologist told me why you're here. It's not any of my business to ask your reasons."
She put the papers aside on her desk and turned to him. "My question to you is, how much of a change are you looking for through treatment? I need to know your expectations so that I can build a proper regiment for you."

Avery checked the adress for the fifth time. He wanted to be completely sure that he was at the right place. It was a bit ridicioulus that he had to go to the palace to get his treatment, but Gwendolyn Lyker was the kings physician too. So he did understand. Also she was the only physician that said yes to his phsychologist ask to take care of Avery. Slowly he walked down the hallway and sat down on the chair beside the door, he had been told to wait.
Averys heart was nearly jumping out of his chest, because he was so nervous. Maybe he should have asked Ava to come with him, instead of insiting on doing it on his own. Right now he wished he had some support. Nervous he looked around the hallway.
Did he think of everything? Did he bring his psychological assessment? Avery was close to passing out and sat down on a chair. He was way to early but he had been too nervous to wait any longer as his and Avas flat. The young man closed his eyes and took a deep breath. Everything would be alright.
Gwen ran her hands through her hair as she read through the files that had been sent to her on the patient that had an appointment today. She hadn't really thought this through much. She'd been called during one of the quiet hours of Taryn's heat by Avery's psychologist, and had really accepted only on the basis of getting them to stop talking so she could get some sleep. Not that she wouldn't see him. She just hadn't overseen a process like this before, and she might have looked into it more extensively before accepting had she been lucid when she was called.
She glanced at her watch. It was time for him to be there. She had a little waiting area out front, but usually people just knocked because there wasn't a secretary or anything. She got up from her desk and walked to the door between the office and the waiting room. She smiled when she saw him sitting there. "Mr. Bennet?" She caught his attention and put out a hand to shake. "I'm Dr. Lyker. It's a pleasure to meet you. Won't you come in?"

Gwen took a deep breath through her nose, testing. “There’s a bit of something, but nothing identifiable yet.” She looked over and gave Odette a comforting smile. “It’s not exactly all at once, but it will feel like it is to you. Anatomically, you’re either one or the other and that’s been forming since you were born. But your scent will change fairly quickly, and your own scent triggers a lot of additional hormones one way or the other, making it seem sudden.”
“A bit of something,” she said with a sigh. “Tell me what it’s going to be like over the next few days until I present.” Odette didn’t know if she wanted to know, but she was fairly sure she’d rather know what on earth was going to happen to her. “I know you’ve been through it on the other side. But you have a mate. You have Taryn. And the two of you look…happy.” It couldn’t be all bad, being an Omega.
Gwen gave her a soft smile. "We are happy. Thank you." She sighed as she thought back through what Gray had gone through and the research she'd done. "As I said, your scent will be one of the first things to change fully. Once that changes, you're going to have a heavy dose of hormones coursing through your system. You might feel a bit nauseous or even crampy. You'll probably have some heavy mood swings as instincts one way or the other kick in and you get used to how to react to them."
Lunch || Gwen & Gray
Gwen grabbed her coffee and took a long drink before she responded. “She wanted a doctor’s opinion on a few things. I won’t share that. But…she’s also concerned with Jaiden. And is more than a but hurt that you won’t even consider the idea that he might have relapsed.”
Grayson should have seen that one coming. Of course Odette would have gone to Gwendolyn about this. Grayson was actually sort of annoyed. As if he didn’t have enough on his plate, now Odette was talking about him to everyone? All these people talking behind his back about Jaiden, all because Grayson knew and trusted his best friend better than anyone else. “He hasn’t,” the Omega said, surprised by the firmness in his voice. The walls were going up, ready to shut down this conversation as soon as possible. “I would have known, and Odette shouldn’t be talking to you about why she’s upset with me.”
Gwen saw the change in his demeanor immediately, and she sighed. "Grayson, I'm not saying he has." She said quickly, looking tired. "All I was going to suggest is for you to have him come in for a test to see if there's anything in his system. If there's nothing there, then no harm done and Odette's worry is put to rest. And on the off chance that there is something there, he can get into detox before he messes himself up as bad as he was last time."
She gave him a stern look. "Grayson, I commend your faith in him. You're a good friend. But you need to understand that Odette is your friend too and his. If he did relapse, you'd probably be the very last person Jaiden would tell for the very reason that you have so much faith in him.."
Lost || Gwen & Casden
Gwen hummed, looking him over. “Would it be rude of me to ask why you’re interested in him,?” She propped one elbow up on her desk and leaned her chin on it. “What do you intend for your relationship, Mr. Wetherborne? Just a political union, or more?”
Casden did have to admit that he was a bit shocked by her… forwardness. He sighed and scratched his head, “In all truth? At first, this was all my parents idea. They couldn’t really support me anymore, and they thought this would be best for me, but now… I think I do like Grayson, he’s a good ruler. As for our relationship… I’m still not sure. I think I would like it to be a bit more, but, for Grayson’s sake… I would be willing to do whatever he is comfortable with.”
Gwen listened attentively, her brow furrowing a bit. "That's...very considerate of you." She nodded slowly. "And if you don't succeed? What are your plans then? Will you stay and try to find work in the capitol, or will you go back home?"
Lunch || Gwen & Gray
Gwen shook her head. “‘He seems like a person.’ That’s a new one.” She took a sip of her coffee and chuckled. “He seemed polite enough when he was talking to me, at least. Extremely awkward, but…kind.” She shrugged.
She ate a few bites of her soup before she spoke again. “Odette came and visited me the other day.” She brought up offhandedly, watching for Grayson’s reaction before he continued.
“Awkward would definitely describe our meeting…” Grayson sighed. Two shy people without a buffer there to help steer the conversation wasn’t the best idea. Grayson had no idea how to get to know someone who wasn’t taking the lead in a conversation. He cleared his throat at the mention of Odette. He didn’t like that his friend was mad at him, but why couldn’t Odette just accept that Jaiden was getting better. Jaiden was their friend and needed help but she was always acting like he was the enemy or selfish. “Oh?” he mused. “What did you talk about?”
Gwen grabbed her coffee and took a long drink before she responded. "She wanted a doctor's opinion on a few things. I won't share that. But...she's also concerned with Jaiden. And is more than a but hurt that you won't even consider the idea that he might have relapsed."

Gwen hummed and nodded. “Well, I think you’ve got to pick your battles then. Not that you can pick it anyway, but if there’s a specific alpha you’re attracted to, wouldn’t you want to hope that you’ll present as an omega? If you’re fearful of having to submit, then are they worth it? Because even /if/ you go the queer route and still go after them after you present as an alpha, one of you is going to have to submit. And to be honest, if it’s a guy it’s significantly easier for you to bottom than him.”
“Because he’s not going to ever see me as more than a child. It’s…he’s a bit older, and that alone is enough to turn him off. And more than that, I know how he sees me. It’s childish. And he’s not going to change. I don’t know how to be more mature. I can only work with what I have.” A shudder worked through her body and she looked over at Gwen. “Do I smell differently than I have been?” she asked. “I feel like…I’m different. I feel different, and I don’t like it. How does presenting work? Is it all at once or is it a gradual thing?”
Gwen took a deep breath through her nose, testing. "There's a bit of something, but nothing identifiable yet." She looked over and gave Odette a comforting smile. "It's not exactly all at once, but it will feel like it is to you. Anatomically, you're either one or the other and that's been forming since you were born. “I’ll pass on the compliment.” Gwen sighed and shook her head at how busy the boy was. “We’ll check your hormone levels again after your next heat in a few months. Yes, that means I’ll have to take more blood. Again it’ll just be a single vial.”
She took a few bites of soup and then hummed. “So what else is happening with you lately? I heard you have a few other suitors floating around. One of them got lost on the way to meeting you and somehow ended up in my office asking for directions.” She rolled her eyes good naturedly.
He visibly cringed at the mention of his suitors. “Yes.. Uhm… Casden,” Grayson said with an awkward nod. “He came by my study.” There wasn’t much that Grayson knew to say on the topic. He wasn’t interested in any of these suitors… he had one person he wanted to be with, despite Gwen and Jaiden’s dislike of Baldur. “He seems like a person… We didn’t talk much.”
Gwen shook her head. "'He seems like a person.' That's a new one." She took a sip of her coffee and chuckled. "He seemed polite enough when he was talking to me, at least. Extremely awkward, but...kind." She shrugged.

littlestaneeli replied to your post: Miss Gwen Gray is hurt! He has bruises on his neck you have to help him!
How do you know? You have to check him out!
I can't right now, dear. Miss Taryn and I are busy right now. I'm sure if Grayson was really hurt, he would have sent me a message himself.
Miss Gwen Gray is hurt! He has bruises on his neck you have to help him!
Bruises on his neck?
Louisa those aren’t…Don’t worry about it. Grayson’s not hurt. Trust me.

Gwen hummed and gave him a nod. She wasn’t particularly impressed with him, but it wasn’t like he was rude or anything. “Well, you’ll pass nearly all the meeting rooms on the way there with the directions I gave you, but the one next to the library is the one that His Majesty tends to prefer.”
“Ah, I see…” Casden nodded in understanding and gave Dr. Lyker a small smile. “Then I might want to be off, unless you wanted to talk or something?” He asked, glancing back at the door. He was sure that King Grayson would understand if he was a bit late, epsecially if he was talking to someone like Dr. Lyker, that he knew.
Gwen hummed, looking him over. "Would it be rude of me to ask why you're interested in him,?" She propped one elbow up on her desk and leaned her chin on it. "What do you intend for your relationship, Mr. Wetherborne? Just a political union, or more?"

Gwen sighed a bit. At least he seemed polite enough, if a bit jumpy. But Grayson had been jumpy around her at first as well. “You’re on the completely wrong side of the palace. Take the elevator down to the first floor and take the main hallway towards the entrance. Go past the main ballroom and turn left. The meeting room is just before the library.” She raised her eyebrows at him. “Is that clear enough, or do you need a map?”
Casden milled the directions over in his head for a moment, visualizing where he was supposed to go. He smiled faintly, “No, thank you, that’s perfectly clear,” he told her. “The only thing they told me was to meet him in meeting room number… something. I couldn’t remember the number, and then I started to wander, and…” he sighed, shaking his head a bit at his own stupidity, “I got really lost.”
Gwen hummed and gave him a nod. She wasn't particularly impressed with him, but it wasn't like he was rude or anything. "Well, you'll pass nearly all the meeting rooms on the way there with the directions I gave you, but the one next to the library is the one that His Majesty tends to prefer."

“I don’t want to present as an Omega because…I just…I can’t. I don’t want to submit to an Alpha. And, I know they wouldn’t all be horrible. I mean, you’re an Alpha and you’re wonderful. But Alphas in general…they’re…” She didn’t know how to put it politely. There was no way to put it politely.
“But if I present as an Alpha, there’s no way I could convince the person I want to mate with me.” Unbidden, an image of Damon, looming over her, popped into her mind.
Gwen hummed and nodded. "Well, I think you've got to pick your battles then.
