Harrods continued:

In these garments I liked how the ruffles and frills add a feminine touch as well as volume and shape to make their silhouettes more unique.

I was attracted to all the dresses in Harrods, in particular the embellished, sheer Red Valentino gowns, a patterned trapeze silhouette dress, a polka dot puff sleeve dress and a simple, classic Alice and Olivia dress. (Drawn in fine liner).

My favourite designers on display here were Needle and Threa due to their beautifully ornate frilly dresses and Stone Goya for the mix of pastel and bright colour scheme. In particular, the yellow, floral patterned dress with blouson sleeves stands out and is a good example of the feminine style I like.

A quick visit to Liberty and Harrods in London.

Liberty:

I particularly enjoyed the range of various prints and the vibrant colours mixed together. I also like the feminine styles of The Vampire’s Wife and Philosophy Di Lorenzo Serafini.

Due to the need to wear masks in public areas and transport, I have made two kinds of mask with filter pockets so I can place filters inside them and make them more effective. To help me make the masks I followed a YouTube video which had simple steps and instructions.

To improve them, I think I may make the top mask smaller to fit my face, add a nose wire to the bottom one and change the elastic to a cord to make it more comfortable to wear.

I practised some detailed drawings of faces from Vogue covers and fashion campaigns to improve my fashion illustrations.

I think the ones drawn with biro were more successful but I still may try a less sketchy drawing by fine liner in another drawing to see how it looks.

Another drawing from Rei Kawakubo’s Motorbike Ballerina collection, shown in her exhibition: Art of the In-Between at the Met. This drawing is a mix of mark making with promarker and pastels and continuous line drawing with biro pen.

Another look from Rei Kawakubo’s collection Motorbike Ballerina shown in her exhibition at the Met. For this collection she mixes the low subculture of bikers with the high culture of ballet to explore ‘taste’. I used white gel pen, coloured pencils and pastels to render the drawing.
