Ok anon, this is going to be long, but you asked so bear with me here!
First of all I feel like I should mention that for me, in this case, the fic came before the ship. You know how tumblr works, you follow people who post content you like, and sometimes through these people you start seeing some names show up a lot on your dash. This was @luninosity for me, and my inmediate reaction upon reading her snippets was ‘Wait, wait, this isn’t Stucky but Chris and Sebastian? But… isn’t that… weird?’, but then also ‘oh my god, who’s this woman and who did she sell her soul to, what even is her writing, omfg’.
So I clicked on the link, and told myself that I could always just picture them as Steve and Bucky in my head… That lasted about 2 paragraphs.
And so here we are.
Point being, I didn’t see all these things between them right away. I liked them together, aesthetically, of course, I mean:
[x] and I’d read about them like you read about the 2 main characters in a novel, but I didn’t really ship them.
But then… well. I seemed to be stuck in this fandom, and that also meant watching interviews, press conferences, pictures… And I started to notice things.
Things like how Chris is always incredibly tactile (like, more than he already is) around Sebastian:
That pat on the shoulder during the SDCC13 panel (he’s walking towars his seat and only touches Seb).
And most of the time he doesn’t even need a reason to, just seems to be like conditioned response or muscle memory. ‘I’m laughing, therefore I’m happy, therefore I touch Seb because Seb means happiness’

But other times it’s just plain ridiculous:

So, to answer your question… what makes them such a wonderful ship? Why is it that we just can’t stop ourselves from getting carried away when it comes to these two wonderful human beings?
Just the fact that Chris is an adorable meatball who names his dog after a Disney character and does a lot of amazing charity work and whose idea of a perfect vacation is to go to Disneyworld, and Seb is a precious kitten who hugs people when he’s not supposed to and goes to meet fans in his PJs and gets excited when talking about space and Bucky Barnes, and I guess that it just feels like they were made for each other (:
