I have a small question: Why is it unfair for an Asian person to call out orientalism? Yes, they may have white friends, but why can they not call out orientalism if they’re pointing out that they experienced it? You wouldn’t tell a Black person that the treatment they experienced wasn’t anti-Black. Is it fair to treat an Asian person that way?

I care a lot about this subject, and I want to try and get to the bottom of it. There’s plenty of people who regardless of race abuse their position, but there’s also plenty of cases where self-defense is racistly interpreted as aggression. I’m trying to learn about what happened here for that reason.

Okay, I admit I worded it harshly, so let me be clear: in general, it is obviously not a bad thing for an Asian person to call out orientalism.

However, there are two things wrong with Suri starting to tout themselves as a victim of racism:

Suri was not kicked from the server on the basis of being Asian, not in the slightest. They were kicked due to making proshipper posts and post promoting rape fics whilst in a server for a RAINN fundraiser, which naturally made a lot of people uncomfortable.

Even if the above was somehow orientalist and SRFR really was racist, Suri chooses to align themselves with two people who have spent the past few weeks demonizing two Black ex-friends of theirs, in such a borderline obsessive way that one could arguably call the behavior antiblack. Suri can't be the Ultimate Racism victim AND be friends with two white people with pretty blatant racial biases that are seeping through the cracks.
