Rainbow High: Rainbow Rules

Although the Rainbow/Shadow High rivalry is no more, I have to say the Shadow High collection was one of my favorites and it definitely allowed me to explore my darker side throughout this program. I leaned heavily into the duality of rainbow and shadow popping the looks with both oil slick, iridescent and saturated color foils.

I love getting the opportunity to work on the OG ponies! The whole unicorn trend was going bananas when I created this guide and I love the way the pop of acid yellow sets off the sweetness of the palette. The airbrushed style of the character art lent itself well to the surrealistic dreaminess and metallic pops in their manes makes it all extra fancy!

Meditation on Koi

I’ve always loved the graphic beauty of koi fish. Everything from the abstract colors beneath shimmering scales to the fluidity of translucent fins, all of it begs visual exploration.

I used color in the ground of the scarf to really pop the koi since in all likelihood the scarf will be scrunched. It’s the only time I used the full illustration choosing to crop in close on other product.
