call me an optimist, but I liked this episode. we all spent the downtime between s2 and s3 being like “this show is great, but they’re gonna have to do something ~different~ to keep it interesting.”

and that’s what we’re getting! cinematography, directorial styles, even the different title sequence for 3x02. next week we’ve got villanelle’s backstory (something people have been asking for/speculating about since day one), and tonight for 3x04 we got this whole distorted narrative style where we went through the same few days from everyone’s perspectives. it’s experimental! it’s fun! it’s fresh! there are so many loose threads now, and we still have HALF a SEASON to see how they tie together.
