It’s hard to get a read on Sakura Nanamine. Mitsuba likes to think he’s pretty good at getting underneath a person’s skin. If he can find a weak spot, then it’s easy enough to press on it until they snap. Yashiro has her radish legs. Minamoto can’t stand to look uncool. The former Number Three revealed Mitsuba’s own weak spot to him—and as much as he hates it, he can’t really deny it.

But what would Number Three have shown Sakura when she doesn’t seem to even have a weak spot? She wears none of her feelings. No matter the situation, she carries herself with a cold detachment that’s impossible to penetrate.

It makes approaching her like this scary.

They’re in the broadcasting room. Mitsuba will never get used to the eeriness of it, the grotesquery of dozens of phantom eyes and mouths. And yet it’s starting to get familiar enough that it almost feels like a home of sorts.

It’s strange.
