                  He blinks rapidly and twists his head over his shoulder. His shirt and hands are clear and there’s no blood seeping from his eye sockets. The smile he flashes Raven appears almost apologetic and he responds with a quiet, “Yeah. I know.” Clearly, Perry’s thoughts are elsewhere tonight.

she walks closer to him, teeth sinking into her lower lip as she grasps the hem of her shirt. “you okay?” she already knows the answer, but it’s as if she’s a broken record. “you should come inside.”

            Her tone is teasing, but he’s glad. It makes the whole date seem more at ease. Because, at the beginning of the night, he’d be nervous despite himself. No matter how many times he’d told himself it’s just Raven, nothing had been able to calm the frantic beating in his heart. Because maybe that simple fact — that it’s her — is the thing causing the nerves.

            They’ve hung out plenty of times, of course. But never like this. Sitting across from one another, dressed up, at a fancy restaurant for dinner. It feels more like a real date than just a night out with his friend. Not that he’s ever really participated in a date like this — even with girls he intentionally was trying to impress. ❛ What — I’ve seen the movies. I know how to be a gentleman when I wanna be. ❜

raven stares at the menu, but doesn’t read anything. she's a lot more concerned with the person across her and making sure that this is the best night the two of them have. this is her friend. her confidant. but, it’s also him. which, at the same time, makes her nervous. nervousness is not something raven succumbs to. after a few moments, though, she snaps out of it and actually picks something to order. 

the laugh that comes from her chest actually sounds a little different. it sounds happier. which is fitting, since nothing of the night has really felt the same as before. this feels like an actual and real date that is meant for two people who want to pursue a relationship. but, inadvertently, this feels like that. “so, you’ve seen romantic movies, but not the bachelorette? that math just doesn’t add up, blake,” she muses with a smirk and a glance up at him as the waiter nears their table.

he licks his lips at the suggestion, his hand moving to rest just above her ass. “i do. let’s go.” bellamy’s not normally one to go for public sex, knowing they could get caught but seeing raven all dressed up like this has done something to him. he can’t help himself as he tugs her down the hall, wrenching open the closet door and shoving her inside, already breathing harshly as he kisses her.

the way he looks at her so possessively has her soaking in seconds. it wasn’t really expected. sure, maybe after they got home she wouldn’t have been opposed to him joining her in the shower, but this is new. different. it’s easily reciprocated, though. she pulls the door shut just as quickly as he shoved her inside, curling her hands around his collar and pressing her lips against his. hard and needy.

Her inquiries cheer him up a bit. He was a sociable boy in life. Obviously, his conversations are limited now. Having anyone to talk to is…nice. Even if she can’t see him.

Perry allows the letters to sit for several moments. WHAT DO YOU DO? he writes next. Raven’s been asking him an awful lot of questions. Despite living with her and watching her during the hours she’s here, Perry knows very little about the woman living in his old building.

she reads the words and shrugs. he’s a ghost. how much could it hurt? it’s not like he can go tell everybody what she looks like. “only once? i feel like you’re telling a fib, perry,” she chides, tying up her hair and slopping on some green goop of a mask to tighten up her skin before bed. 

“i’m a mechanic. and i do online school so i can get my degree and then leave this place. move to d.c. get a job at nasa. but, you know, that’s just the dream.”

 this is what happiness feels like. this is what it was supposed to be for like the longest time. but he never let it happen. there was an ease to everything now. something that just made things work. and he’s not even sure how it all happened. only that it was here and he wanted to hold onto it, he only wanted to make sure that it worked. he thought the kids deserved that. he thought that Raven deserved that much. “you see that? always happens.”

the way xo looks up at her parents while laughing melts her heart. their little girl looks so damn proud of herself, and that’s how raven feels about her. she puts her phone down and scoops the little baby up into her arms, kissing her face and tickling her cheeks, “don’t listen to daddy. you may have fallen on your bum, but we’re so proud of you!” she glances over at bellamy and grins, “i know, but let her have this moment!”

welp. not feeling raven today. i found out my roommate has been talking mad shit about me behind my back about things that aren’t even true. which is a big punch to the gut when i tried to be a good roommate and nice to her but i guess she doesn’t think so. i’ll be back later.
