   She grunted as she adjusted herself, not-so-gently stuffing pillows under her back. Hippo, meanwhile, curled up immediately over Perry’s feet, the big lug.

   “ Oh my god, right?” She was only half-serious. “ This kid is having a field day with my ribs.” A hand went to her stomach, little kicks nudging against her palm. 

   Toph didn’t really expect Perry’s presence to make it easier to sleep, but if she was going to be awake anyway...

   “ Distract me, please.”

                    Every time. The television crackled with static as Ryou came inside. He looked around for his latest spectral roommate to no avail before he crouched down in front of the screen. “ How do you manage this every time? ” he muttered giving the machine a tap on the side. It only crackled at him louder. “ You make it really hard to ‘ Netflix and Conspiracy ’ when you do this, you know that Perry? ”

HER DEADENED STIFF ARM IS CRADLED against his chest && her own as she breathes in, opening her eyes once he’s back against her. the solidity of his figure gives her solace. the ability to breathe easier. but also jars something disgustingly painful within her core. part of her knows what she’s done. who she’s killed. she can still taste the brain matter between her teeth. she knows she doesn’t deserve to live.

but she’s here. that’s what she focuses on. she noses further into perry’s neck.
