IC 4603, Reflection Nebula in Ophiuchius
indie Ophiuchus.
An entity as old as time itself, around as long as there has been Time to tell. Some know him as Hades, the great lord of Death, others liken their awareness of him as the divine Falling from the sky--O’ Lucifer! Those opposed to worshipping the mighty try to explain the phenomenon, turn him into Myth; C.thulhu, The Old One! Destruction beckons! A name for each of his various forms: War! Famine! Death! Pestilence!
O’ Father of Magic!
His own betrayed him. Humanity and divinity alike had their fill of a fear they did not understand, so they’ve exiled him to a prison among the stars, where he cannot touch Creation.
We now know him by yet another name. Ophiuchus, bringer of night, serpent in the sky!
I’m the b e s t at what I do. And what I do isn’t very p r e t t y.
The moral of the story is, I will gut you if I need to. I will carve my way out with only my teeth.
Brenna Twohy, from “Little Red Riding Hood Addresses the Next Wolf,” Forgive Me My Salt (via lifeinpoetry)
