COMEBACK HANA. I WANT THE REST OF TBD. ~kate
It’s Goodbye For Now! Sad to say it!
Sup friends, it’s PDNim here.
Some of you may have noticed that I’ve been taking some under-the-radar precautions to help memorialize my home here on the tumblr- to deter theft, to make clear its impending inactivity. I’m still too preoccupied to write out a proper “explanation”- I may never bring myself to it, but I just wanted to make a quick announcement to whomever comes across the blog that ur friend, PDNim is throwing in the towel!
If I were to regret something, I’d say it was pushing the blog as a fan fiction blog so early on. That was absolutely foolish of me bc at that point, I lacked any sort of understanding as to what the demographic a fan fiction blog targeted. This was a huge mistake- because I discovered later on, slowly but surely, that fandom culture was not my thing, and that fan fiction blogs literally FEED off of it. This really messed with my enjoyment of blogging, my consistency, etc. To add, it was also pretty fucking dumb to make a bangtan-centric blog. I thought this was chic, organized, and very centered and trendy at the time, but I didn’t take into consideration that I love so much more about Kpop... and I really pigeonholed myself. I’m not a group loyalist by any means.
This said, I can say I’m pretty satisfied where I left off. I’m happy that I was finally able to find the real PDNim towards the end, and get to a place where I was able to kpop blog in as unadulterated fashion as the tumblr extreme left permits. I think the most sad part about calling it quits will be rereading my blog and enjoying it as the blog I always wanted to read- laughing at myself, cringing and face palming at my perfectly unrefined and inelegant attitude. Nothing is more rewarding than looking back at my writings and being able to say- damn, this shit was actually entertaining.
By allowing myself to just write what I like about Kpop- music and lyric analysis, industry watching, group dynamics, member critique, comeback reviews, etc etc, I was finally able to find the character I had always strived for, the blog I could feel proud of.
I hope this isn’t the end of my kpop blogging career- because i really f-ing love it. But my time on tumblr and as a fan fiction writer? I’m done. Catch you elsewhere on the net!
Thx for the fun times! It’s been real!
-ur friend PDNIM! (Imagine me looking into your eyes like Yoongi here.)
I don’t like the language, “we worked hard” in terms of kpop fandoms.
You bitches didn’t work hard. Your clicking on MV links and tweeting out hashtags is the epitome of avoiding hard work.
You’re playing. You’re having fun.
DO NOT disguise your fandom funtime as “hard work”, you despicable, spoiled, first world scum.
There are construction workers working full time in the hot, boiling, sun to help rebuild infrastructure so that we can have nice roads and buildings. There are nurses on their feet for insane all nighter shifts keeping patients well and attended to. There are teachers, and babysitters, and entrepreneurs, and prostitutes, and lawyers, and garbage men ETC ETC.
THEY are working their asses off. THEY are working hard.
I am sick and tired of this spoiled and detached-from-reality language used by kpop fandoms. These bitches literally think they’re changing the world by watching a MV... holy shit the delusion.
FUCK YOU FANDOMS. FUCK YOU.
And PS for the people who think I’m being incredibly extra about my disdain for fandoms: wake UP. Fandoms foster so much mentally disruptive barriers in the psyche of vulnerable young people. There’s this false sense of community and the friendship that comes with it, false sense of personal achievement when in reality you’ve done nothing notable, false sense of entitlement to tell others how to behave in terms of supporting an artist, false sense of contribution to society... folks, fandom culture is toxic.
Fucks sake I am SO SALTY about stupid bitches thinking they work hard when I’m here, breaking my back hunched over my upper division studies during finals week. GOD i am salty.
If/when BTS starts losing members, who do you think would be the first to leave the group?
That’s an “if” for sure because the popularity distribution in BTS is relatively even. Members are more likely to leave when one is exceedingly popular and jealousies form out of the favoritism. BTS is a group who will most likely sustain into the future along a similar model to Big Bang, where activity will wain, but group status will remain. I predict that BTS will disband as OT7. (I’m not a romanticist btw… I’m making my predictions based off of my idea of the group dynamic, not because i can’t possibly imagine future bts that’s not OT7.)
If they were to have a different group dynamic, I’d imagine that it could go one of two ways: the popular successful members leave the group because they get better offers elsewhere, or the unpopular, underrated members would leave because they’re being underutilized by their company. There is one other circumstance that may be grounds for a member leaving: he marries and has a child with his wife in secret, and then confesses to the public and leaves the group.
Those are my thoughts. I can’t say particular members because to me, I can’t imagine the group breaking off little by little. The group dynamic allows each member a whole lot of freedom, and the agency is very proactive about representing their members as equally as possible.
Random question but do you own a physical copy of any BTS albums? If so, which?
I don't own any physical kpop albums. I plan to be a billionaire when I'm older, so I'm kind of tight with money.
I spy with my little eye.......
ANNOYING KPOP FANS WHO KNOW NOTHING ABOUT FASHION OR THE GUCCI BRAND.
Shut UPPPPPPPPPPPPPPP.
I agree...I need u and run have a different feel to them. the first time I heard I need u I was shook lol. The songs have a different vibe...I hope we'll see something familiar like that in the future ;/
mI’m not so sure we’re on the same page with both I Need U and Run. I dislike everything from I Need U onward, which includes I Need U in that selection. I dislike even more-so Run.
If you listen to I Need U’s instrumental, it’s a very boring recurring techno reel throughout the entire song, and and the melody motifs aren’t anything special; just commercial crowd pleasing. If you haven’t been following me for a long time, then you probably haven’t seen my lyrical analysis of I Need U (which I wrote way back in the day and can no longer find), and why I think that the lyrics glorify poisonous obsession and emotional string-alonging. In comparison to Save Me, (who’s lyrics were first and foremost written by a female!), which displays a much healthier version of infatuation with your lover, rather than obsession, it’s just not a healthy song.
Whether BTS knew or cared what they were writing, I can’t say. But what I dislike is the fandom’s glorification of the song and lyrics. It’s not really a romantic song. I Need U is an incredibly scary way to look at a relationship, and it hints at obsession-driven suicide.
Not my cup of tea at all.
@my-dreams-came-to-life You did mean in your last ask that you didn’t like Run and then everything beyond, am I right? I’m pretty sure that’s what you were trying to get at.
Unpopular opinion: BTS have been sounding the same to me for a while. I feel like ever since Run, I've been hearing a constant loop of their songs over and over with just a little tweek. Yes they have found a new style of music but that doesn't mean to repeatedly use it. Also Not Today and Spring Day were trash! #SorryNotSorry
OMG YES. YESSSSSS. YES YES YES.
YES.
Beyond the fact that their songs have been melding together into one very commercial techno-bass pattern, I feel like they’ve lost their original charm.
I was listening to War of Hormone the other day, and I was like, “you know what, this song isn’t fantastic or anything, but it really just screams BTS. I don’t know if I can say that about Blood, Sweat, and Tears”. There’s just this sort of “attitude” in the past songs that aren’t present ever since I Need U imo.
Not Today was disappointing, and I always fall asleep before hearing the entirety of Spring Day. Those two were so “throw em into the extra package so we can resell the album because fans are stupid enough to buy it again for 2 extra shit songs”.
I hope we see BTS take some more artistic strides.
What is your opinion of the rapline?
The talent of BTS.
What do you think about Jin?
Queen.
It's cool that BTS are getting global recognition and it's such an incredible feat for them but now it's taking such a turn to where they're becoming more overrated, if you know what I mean. They're already in this "J-14" magazine for preteens and I can't help but find it cringey- it's like witnessing that 1D phase all over again when I was into 1D way back then.
Haha, you were into 1D. Haha. Haha.
But seriously though, all kpop groups are just as bad as 1D from the moment they debut. It’s the nature of any fandom-based pop culture that markets specifically to young people of the opposite sex.
BTS didn’t just ‘turn into’ a cringey group. They've been this way from the start.
And the fact that you were a 1D fan, but are now a BTS fan doesn’t mean you’re any less cringey than you were back during the 1D days. We kpop fans are cringey people. We are lame as fuck. Let’s not try to pretend that reality doesn't exist lmao.
But we have fun, and we don’t really give a fuck what others think. It’s all about enjoying the art anyway.
[P.S. I’m talking about general fandom fans, not obsessive weird queefie-pie fangurl fans. In the case of these bitches, they’re a disease no matter the fandom.]
Last day of UOM! What do you have planned after?
Hanako posts very little and writes month.
So I wasn't the only one confused about 21st century. Besides the age target, it irks me when they sing 'everybody wanna love you', 'everybody gonna love you bae'. It would have been better if they say 'everybody won't love you, but it is okay'.
Though in the song’s defense, “everybody won’t love you, but it is okay” is incredibly inelegant sounding lmao.
I don’t necessarily think that the song was going for a realistic outlook on the lives of 21 century girls. That’s not what I was suggesting in my age-range analysis, nor is that what the song was ever suggesting. The song is meant to be a toast to an era of girls, a “go get ‘em ladies’ if you will- thus the unequitivable praise of women is completely founded. My only beef with the song is how specific and realistic it takes things by denouncing specific age ranges rather than referencing a broader culture of women. That’s really elementary to me.
Visiting a friend who’s so much better than me at everything. Tell me u can't relate omg.
I’ve been getting a good amount of ass-kissing asks recently, and I’ve just been ignoring them because they annoy the shit out of me. And since I track IPs, I discovered that they’re all coming from the same person.
So here’s what’s happening: this person has done an entire read through of my blog, and is submitting “unpopular opinion” asks about views that I so obviously agree with and have written about on multiple occasions throughout my blog’s history.
I’m not bothered that their opinions are exact photocopies of my own. I’m just annoyed that they think I can’t see what they’re doing lmao.
Never thought I’d say it, but thank fuck unpopular opinion month is coming to an end.
Unpopular opinion month on hit!!! I like to BTS and their music! I also, am not an A.R.M.Y. and will never be one. I just like the boys!
Also, unpopular opinion; I don't see the Hype when BTS unfollows verified accounts?? Like why do the fans go nuts? WhTs so great about doing that? 🙄 I'll never know. It seems really dumb and immature.
I had no idea fans did this. You know this kind of shit is top tier drama in their lives, right? They literally get really angry and upset and throw tantrums over this stuff. Like wow. WOW.
Meanwhile in Africa…………….
