if someone wants to be basic, they absolutely can, but no one should be forced to be basic by having jobs and housing and food withheld from them.

Did you know old gyaru used to have horrendous times staying stable with their jobs and housing because it was either give up their style or go homeless? And they obviously chose their style? You wanna know why so many gals are hostesses and prostitutes? Because that was the only way they were allowed to survive and keep their creativity.

Now, in today's day and age, its slightly more accepted in some areas, but still you have your job held over your head and are at the mercy of your bosses's personal tastes.
