"Somethin' y'need?"
He sniggers, the likelihood of getting a discount from Chau was the same as Chuck Hansen cracking a smile, neeeeever going to happen.
"I can't afford to stick around. I gotta go get my genius on so I can pay for the next one. Saving the world doesn't come cheap, but you already knew that."
Hanna cocked her head and scowled at the man. "What. Why's that funny? I'll have y'know m'very capable of generosity, okay." That probably wasn't entirely true.
"S'the apocalypse. Nothin's cheap," she snerked. "In any case, s'been a pleasure doin' business with you, Doctor."

Hanna pretends she isn't afraid of anything, but the one thing she fears the most is not knowing what to do. Uncertainty is her biggest weakness.
"Sure, you're really going to fool a biologist with that one."
Newt sent a short message from his cell, there was an unmarked PPDC transporter parked up a short distance away, he had just given the driver instructions to proceed to the loading bay to the rear of Chau's emporium, ready to load up the kaiju specimen he'd just spent a small fortune on.
"Transport's on its way, I'll soon be outta your hair"
"Relax, grumpy," Hanna snorted, rolling her eyes, "Can't a girl make a joke?"
Her nosy side wanted to know who Newt was texting- she was a curious 16 year old, after all- but she restrained herself from attempting to pry. She'd always wondered about what sorts of shenanigans went on in the Shatterdome, but that was a separate universe from hers that Hanna wasn't likely to be part of.
"Outta my hair? Boy, y'just spent a small fortune at my shop- the last thing I care 'bout is gettin' you outta my hair. Hell, feel free t'stick around. I might even give you a discount."

The woman stopped in her track, instantly turning around. “Fifteen years ago, I’d probably agree with you,” The girl was interesting. There was a sense of defiance in her. “But now you’re really underestimating it.” Not continuing her education was a regrettable choice. Valenka had the chance to go to university, but she was too stupid to consider it back then.
She remained still as the teenager took a step closer. The smug look on her face annoyed her. Valenka offered her an unyielding stare. “I know exactly what sort of person you are,” It was like looking into a mirror, during her final stages of adolescence. “You play by your own rules. You’re rebellious, too,” she remarked. “Society can’t stand you.” Was she really giving the strange girl a detailed observation in the middle of a street? The pedestrians didn’t seem to care.
Hanna's head cocked to the side as she stared at the woman, eyes narrowed. She listened to the woman, clinging to her every word. It was rather amusing to Hanna, to be the subject of observation for once and not the observer, because in some ways, Valenka was right.
"Yes," she began, taking another step towards her, "I'm all of those things." Hanna lowered her gaze, sighing before she looked back up at the older woman with a smirk. "But you still don't know me. For instance, I don't go to school because I don't need it. Does it help people get jobs? Sure, but I've already got one. A good one. I don't go to school because I'm smart enough to survive without it- it's a luxury, not a necessity."
((psa: i am very bad at replies gomen ;n;))
He kept telling himself to think of the bigger picture, this was the only way he could acquire what he needed and the only person who could acquire it for him.
He takes the cash from his pocket, counting out what he needed, which was most of it, tucking the rest securely away and offering over the requested payment.
"Payment plus one hundred extra. This guarantees me the next fresh specimen which arrives, right?"
Hanna collected the payment, enthusiastically brushing her thumb through the bills. She nodded contentedly before pocketing the money and looking back up at Newt.
"Sure does," she hummed, before chuckling. "'Less the next kaiju doesn't have a brain."
Green eyes widen behind thick framed glasses in a look of disbelief. He was almost dumbstruck.
"Wait, wait, what? Another hundred? Now? Jeez!"
Now it was becoming clear why she became Chau's successor. She was shrewd. She didn't miss a single opportunity.
"Alright alright, you got a deal. I'll pay for this one plus one hundred down payment on the next one."
The expression on Newt's face was priceless. "C'mon man, I'm Hannabelle Chau- did'ya really expect any less?" she remarked with a light laugh.
Hanna decided not to inform him that the next brain would be more expensive. The look of disbelief on his face was hilariously beautiful and she wasn't going to pass up the opportunity to see that again. She realized this was rather cruel, but then again, she was never a particularly nice girl.
"Good. And don't worry, friend. You're gettin' two kaiju brains. For science, hm?"
He mulled it over. Two would be better than one, even if he'd have to finance it himself. Technically the better specimen would then be his and not the PPDC's.. that thought was much to tempting.
"How about I take what you have now, and you still call me when you get a fresh one?"
He could have sworn he heard the 'kerching!' of a cash register when he mentioned taking both.
"What d'ya say? We got a deal?"
Hanna's eyes lit up at the offer and tried to contain her joy with an ambivalent smirk. "Looks like we're in business," she remarked coolly, holding out her hand.
"But... y'do realize you're gonna have t'pay for this brain and another hundred for the other one right now, hm?" she hummed, pulling her hand away briefly, "Think of it as a deposit."
