Not drawn but I also have to mention: there are two Elden Ring references in episode 6! The huge "arrows" hitting Finn (classic ER visual), and the iron maiden grandfather clock (abductor virgin)

I have a similar body type to Fionna, and you drawing her in different cute outfits makes me feel like I can wear that too without feeling awkward. So thank you for drawing her like that❤️

Hello!! Big fan of you and the team's work on Adventure Time. I just wanted to come along and ask about the thought/design process with Finn and his older design?

Not sure if Iggy Craig has a tumblr but I came across the initial sketch and Finn's pdesign is so loveable, safe and just exactly what I imagined him to be like as an adult. Were there more explorations or did you have a good idea in mind of what you wanted for him from the start as a team?

You're talking about Finn's regular adult design as seen in Fionna and Cake, right?

My memory is incredibly unreliable, but I don't think there was any concept exploration of Finn's design. I think Iggy just drew him like that in the storyboard, and the crew cheered when seeing him during the pitch, so there was no question we should follow Iggy's design!

And I agree with you that the design suits adult Finn very well! I prefer it to the uninspired design he has in Obsidian

I love your work! I discovered you thanks to Pendleton Ward! Besides, is Pendleton a nice and funny human or not? Also what is your creative part in AT, is there a character that you invented?

I'd say Pendelton Ward is a nice and funny human. When I was relatively new on AT he invited a bunch of people from the crew to a pizza + VR party at his house. I got terrible motion sickness from the VR, but it was a fun hangout! He had stepped down from running the show years before I started working on it though, and I also work remotely, so I haven't met him much

My creative part on AT was storyboards, but I've also been part of the writing team for Distant Lands and Fionna & Cake (as well as doing storyboards)

The show is such a collaborative work, so I can't claim to have invented a character myself, but I've helped create many characters

What black pen/marker did you use for your thumbnails? This is such a random thing I feel like but I really like the line weight and thickness

If you're talking about the thumbnails I shared from Fionna and Cake season 2 episode 1, they're called "Pentel Stylo" and they're dark brown (the actual pen, not the ink)

I love doing thumbnails with them because they have such an appealing line weight. The nib is sort of like a steel nib pen (?) but they're plastic. They can get funky sometimes, but when they work as intended they're really pleasant do doodle with. I recommend trying them out!

Hi there! :D I saw your posts about you doing thumbnails for the Fionna and Cake episodes come up on my For You page! I have to say, it’s super interesting how they translate through into the final product! Even though it starts off simple it still shines with as much personality as when it’s on the TV and it goes to show just how much intricate love and care and effort people like you put into this beloved story. Thank you so much for sharing it with us on here, it’s truly special! I really like your art too honestly. I hope one day maybe in the far future I can do something cool like how you’re doing. Adventure Time has always done a very good job with translating different artists storyboards/concept arts/designs etc. into the final product and letting their different voices shine through, and this continues in Fionna and Cake. There is a lot of care and effort put into all animated shows, but I personally think AT has done especially well when it comes to this, specifically.

Everyone has picked up on the Friends and Sister Sister allusions in the first episode of Fionna and Cake Season 2 but tragically, as far as I can tell, no one noticed the Gilmore Girls homage. I took this snapshot of incontrovertible proof from my laptop with my phone, so forgive the quality but remember the message! Which is Gilmore Girls forever
