I'm Hannibal lecter.

Doctor Lecter, a psychiatrist. I was propelled by a few... colleagues, to start a blog on this app. I'm still uncertain as to why that'd be necessary but alas, I can't refuse such an interesting offer.

I enjoy indulging in fine arts. Music, art, dance, and most nourishing of all-- food. My cooking is, to die for.

Hey Hannibal,since you view life as chest how would your reaction be to meeting someone who views it as checkers to be more exactly the type where the pieces can change colors via being flipped red being life and black being death?

Hannibal gives a soft hum at the comparison, faint amusement touching his expression.

“Checkers.

A simpler game, on the surface. I rarely play it.”

A small pause.

“Chess appeals to me because of its imbalance. Power distributed unequally from the very beginning. Kings protected by disposable pieces. Loss not merely expected, but required.”

His gaze lowers briefly, thoughtful.

“There is honesty in that inevitability.”

A faint tilt of his head

“Checkers is a game of conversion. Of crossing boundaries and returning altered. One survives long enough, reaches the opposing side, and becomes something more dangerous than what it began as.”

The corner of his mouth lifts slightly.

“So if someone viewed life through that lens of red for life, black for death, each capable of becoming the other… one would think them someone intimately familiar with transformation.”

His eyes sharpen with interest.

“Someone who understands that death and life are not opposites, but neighboring states.

..and I suspect they would be very difficult to keep confined to any board at all.”

He leans back in his chair, fingertips resting thoughtfully against his mouth, visibly more awake now than he had been moments before.

“You only speak to me like this when you’ve missed me.”

A quiet breath of amusement leaves him.

“And one of me is apparently still enough to occupy your thoughts.”

Unfortunately so it seems. You'd somehow manage to stick into my thoughts if I pried you out myself.

“You speak as though I’ve taken up residence inside you.”

“Well… if that is the case, I do hope you managed to sleep soundly during the months I was away.”

The remark is light, almost teasing — but something heavier lingers beneath it, quiet and unmistakable. Hannibal’s jealousy is hard to miss, harder to forget.

“I would hate to think my absence disturbed you so deeply.”

That is not what I meant.

Yeah, don't worry. It didn't.. It was actually the opposite.

Oh, Will knew exactly what he was doing. The game had never ended. It had just been on pause.

I confess, I had imagined you might feel the lack of me somewhat more acutely.”

A soft exhale leaves him — almost a laugh, though not quite warm enough to be one.

“But truly… how fortunate. Peace is such a rare gift for you.”

The words read as gracious. The tension beneath them does not.

Mm well, doctor, you thought wrong, it seems.

I even ended up taking a week off work. Spent some time with people.

(Bro is not gonna bring up it was because Nigel made him due to him overworking himself again and that it was at nigels😭)(or the fact that stress got to him where he got himself drunk to the point of stupid.)

His tone remains calm, almost conversational — but there’s a faint, unmistakable edge now.

“I find myself wondering what exactly you mean by that. Who, precisely, has been granted the privilege of your time while I was… absent from your attention?”

“And, more interesting still, that you describe it as peaceful.”

His lips tightening into a thin line..

“I would have thought my company more… singular than that.”

Hello sir, if I may ask what was your thought process on adopting Abigail at first

Hannibal’s expression softens almost imperceptibly at Abigail’s name. He considers the question longer than necessary before answering.

“Well, I suppose at first it began with the most common vice, curiosity.”

He folds his hands neatly behind his back, gaze distant.

“She survived what should have consumed her. Most people in her position would have broken entirely… Abigail adapted.”

A faint smile touches his lips, though there is little warmth in it.

“I recognized something familiar in her. A loneliness shaped by violence.

A young person forced to become intimate with death before she was ever allowed innocence.”

His eyes lower briefly.

“And perhaps… I wished to see whether something wounded could be guided toward becoming something more than merely damaged.”

A pause. Quiet.

He doesn’t mention how Mischa’s smile mirrored in Abigail’s. He doesn’t mention how his breath felt knocked out, how mocked he felt, assuming god had given back his sister to mock him.

He simply smiles.

I have been… well. Quiet. A period of reflection can be quite restorative. It sharpens the palate and clarifies one’s appreciation for discretion.

I do not take teenage patients. My work is with adults, whose minds have ripened enough for the subtleties I find so engaging. That said, curiosity is always welcome. Observation, study, and careful attention to detail are skills that serve you well at any age. Keep watching. Keep learning. Some appetites, intellectual ones, can be quite delicious.

Well, Dr. Bloom could work with children. She did wonders with dear Abigail. You may find her company far more instructive and perhaps even more enjoyable than mine.

It seems you have found someone whose presence both intrigues and entertains you, that’s rather nice. Desire is an actuating emotion. Observation is a fine art. Watch not only what is shown, but what is withheld. Conversation is equally revealing; the questions asked, the pauses taken, the subtle gestures all speak more than words.

Not a pawn

the thought that after Hannibal realized he had cannibalized Mischa, he saw life as a game of chess and people as pawns, bishops, knights. Loss was inevitable to win chess. And if he could pull all the strings then it’d never be his loss. If loss was inevitable, guilt was meaningless, and sacrifice was the only solution to win.

Then Will Graham entered his life.

Hannibal could not reduce Will to a chess piece without losing what made him Will Graham. Any attempt to name him — pawn, bishop, knight, hell even Queen — stripped him of the very thing that drew Hannibal in. Will did not fit on the board. Instead, he became the reason the game existed at all.

Hannibal had always believed himself the king. The centered, protected piece around which all others moved. But the moment Will entered his life, the rules shifted. Hannibal began to move for Will, not for himself. He allowed himself to be put in check if it meant Will remained intact, alive, his. And somewhere along the way, Hannibal stopped being the king. Kings do not sacrifice themselves.

Hannibal would.

He had always sacrificed others so that he would not lose. Now, he would sacrifice himself so that Will wouldn’t. As if that made sense. As if love, to him, could only ever look like ruin.

Mischa had been taken from him by helplessness. by hunger, war. Cruelty. Will, however, would be Hannibal’s choice. And Hannibal would not endure that loss again. He would rewrite Will’s fate, bend the board, defy the rules. If destiny demanded Will’s destruction, then Hannibal would become his god and change it.

He had survived losing a queen.

He would not survive losing the game itself.
