hey so i read part of the student's essay and i want to add a few things:

it was a 0 out of 25 points. that's not even a huge deal.

she only wrote 650 words.

the girl didn't do the actual assignment; she just wrote what she felt like and submitted it.

the class was a PSYCHOLOGY course yet her essay was about her religious beliefs and provided no citations or psychological basis. she simply insisted her argument was true because the bible supposedly says so.

her entire essay is a mindless rant about how strict gender roles must be upheld and trans people are "demonic"

her writing—and i cannot stress this enough—is on par with that of a child who doesn't want to do an assignment. it's so bad i genuinely thought i was reading a satire article.

the student is a fucking college JUNIOR writing like a 10-year-old. she is also a psychology MAJOR who thinks everything in the bible is literal and that her religion is the only source anyone needs. this is someone who intends to go into mental health care. she is dangerously bigoted and ignorant, and her professor saw this and was punished for grading accordingly.

here's a line from her essay:

"Women naturally want to do womanly things because God created us with those womanly desires in our hearts. The same goes for men. God created men in the image of His courage and strength, and He created women in the image of His beauty."

here's her teacher's reasoning for the grade:

“[I am] not deducting points because you have certain beliefs" but rather because the paper "does not answer the questions for this assignment, contradicts itself, heavily uses personal ideology over empirical evidence in a scientific class and is at times offensive."

the girl is a hate-filled bigot. she is a white christian girl who is now being championed by fox news and turning point usa while her professor sits on fucking forced leave. this is disgusting.

Reading the feedback of the teacher as well as the co-teacher, they calmly explained their reasoning for the 0 grade in a way that repeatedly said this girl was allowed to think what she believed, but that this paper simply could not be considered a completion of the assignment.

The fact that this teacher was put on suspension for failing a student who did not even meet the assignment and went out of her way to say the girl was allowed to believe what she believed is absolutely galling. This is an educational institution, and the fact that they are even considering disciplinary action against this teacher for attempting to teach?? Appalling. Absolutely beyond parody that this is where we are in this country.

1. The teacher who has been suspended is transgender.

2. Multiple teachers in the faculty room marked the paper. Only the transgender teacher has been suspended.

3. The student in question broke this story through the incredibly transphobic organisation Turning Point USA.

4. The student's mother has been posting hideously transphobic things on right-wing social media.

This isn't just conservative anti-intellectualism. This is weaponised, targeted transphobia.

i think its also very important to note that samantha fulnecky made academic honor roll at OU last year. people keep saying how stupid she is, which based off the essay absolutely makes sense, but i think its important that more people know this was a conscious effort on her part to produce a piece of work well below the standards of the course, inserting hateful rhetoric, for the sole purpose of getting a failing grade and getting this professor fired. this is not her being ignorant or stupid, this is a specific strategy to ruin a trans womans life and gain public notoriety to launch a right wing grifting career.

This is, factually, the first footage of this that we have ever gotten. This has never been observed by a human being before in recorded history. The only reason we knew these whales ate those squids before was the beaks of the squids found in the stomachs of dead whales, and the battle scars on whales consistent with fighting giant squids.

My favorite thing about this clip is that, in the original uncropped footage, you can see her calf is right beside her, ascending from the depths along with her. Whale calves don't dive until they're taught by their mothers. It is very likely that this footage is of a mother whale teaching her calf to hunt on one of its very first dives.

When I saw this footage for the first time, I cried a little tbh.

someone got really mad at me for being pro-pornography so i'd like to be annoying for a little longer:

-there are enormous problems with exploitation in the porn industry that harm and endanger the people within it, and that harm is carried out mostly against women and minorities

-this is Bad

-however the last century of passing laws against pornography hasn't actually helped any of those problems, and what sex workers tend to advocate for is the legitimization of their labor, so that they can then access the same protections and regulations that people in other industries can access

-for instance football players, miners, roofers, and warehouse workers are also exploited and endangered by their professions, have to work long hours, and can end up traumatized and disabled by unregulated and unsafe working conditions. these people are used up and thrown away by powerful bosses they can't individually challenge.

-however because these industries are not de facto illegal to participate in, when these people form unions and demand better working conditions, they can at least fight for their rights.

-sex workers, who engage in heavily stigmatized work that's also often illegal, have little recourse to demand better treatment.

-even if you don't like porn, and especially if you don't like porn, if you care about the women who are exploited in pornography, you need to advocate for the legality of pornography.

-the more illegal the porn industry is, the less safe and fair it is, and people will still be working in it, no matter how illegal it is.

-again: the porn industry should be regulated like any other industry and subject to laws guaranteeing fair compensation for labor, safe working conditions, and legal resources for workers suffering exploitation and abuse.

-once it is legal to do sex work, then women can bring charges against the men who have broken their contracts and abused them.

-and that is why i push back against posts saying that pornography is evil. it is an entertainment product, made by people, to meet an ongoing demand. criminalizing the consumption and production of it may slightly lessen the demand at the incredible cost of endangering everyone involved. and i think that is what's evil.

okay so basically the story went that he has. a fetish for guys with tats and piercings and this culminated in him getting real teeth KNOCKED OUT during a glory hole incident in 98 or 99 he can’t remember but basically the guy thrust in as he was catching his breath. and. teeth got knocked out. he was THAT HARD. 

so he gets dental implants and continues on his way, assured that he’ll never have to lose any more teeth. he used to bartend blah blah and was always complimented on his teeth but he eventually got them SNAPPED OUT during an altercation with a drunk guy and he got different ones put in and was like “oh, so this is a recurring theme in my life” and decided that he was going to swear off bartending.

so he moved out this way and started his “dick-sucking career” anew, hopeful, wide-eyed. and managed to get a piercing snagged on his fucking tonsil and they have to GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM TOGETHER BECAUSE THE GUY IS STUCK IN HIS FUCKING THROAT AND HE CAN ONLY BREATHE IF HE BREATHES AROUND THE DICK. it was at this moment i remembered that one fucking movie where a guy gets his prince albert piercing stuck in a lady as a killer is busting into the room and dies because he won’t cut it off and run or something

also as this is happening i’m waiting on x-ray results so i’m just. there lmao

and he was talking about how the guy NUTTED. IN THE AMBULANCE. BECAUSE OF THE VIBRATION OF THE ROAD. IN HIS THROAT. AND THEY HAD TO SUCTION IT OUT. WHAT THE FUCK. but it turns out that there was a bad cut to his gums as well because it was a spiked fucking piercing so he just. had to get a couple teeth replaced. again.

and they dated. for 2 more years. until he moved to serbia or something i forget that part i was laughing to hard. it might have been spain. idk anyways

the bf got stopped by airport security because this was a few years after 9/11 and he had to take half his piercings which were not “safe metals” for metal detectors (“because DIY punks are hotter” was his reason??) and he was like “do i take the dick one out too” (no, but he did get taken to be privately searched.) and it ended up, that his boyfriend (the guy in the dental office) laughed so hard, after hearing this story repeated, that he slipped and smacked face first into the edge of a table. and LOST HIS TEETH AGAIN, and ended up walking around “like a fucking christmas carol about wanting two front teeth” until his bf sent him money to get them fixed and then broke up with him “for some hot young thing”

so he gets new ones! and they lasted! they really did! for years!

and then, #4, was on sunday. he was so “inspired” after he was allowed to go on dates again. because quarantine and no-socialising rules and shit have hit hard here multiple times. that he “went too hard” at a small gay bdsm gathering. and he managed to both bend his teeth inwards and fuck his molars up FROM DICK SUCKING. and he was like “i was tied up there, thinking about how many times this has happened. and how some evil gay witch put a curse on me for being too good at sucking dick.” 

and he went on about how the kink club in question is technically helping to pay for this because they felt SO BAD and the guy who did this laughed his ass off and was like. i don’t have any money but once you get your teeth fixed - and the guy was like NO. I AM NOT SUCKING YOU OFF EVER AGAIN LOOK WHAT YOU DID
