Syobai Hashimoto : Antisocial Personality Disorder
Syobai is just textbook ASPD. As google says:
'Antisocial personality disorder is a personality disorder defined by a chronic pattern of behavior that disregards the rights and well-being of others. People with ASPD often exhibit behavior that conflicts with social norms, leading to issues with interpersonal relationships, employment, and legal matters.'
look me in my eyes and tell me this isn't Syobai.
- Many with ASPD have 'exeptions' to their feelings towards others. I feel Sora fits this bill well. He doesn't seem nearly as annoyed by her as nearly half the cast, even refers to her somewhat affectionately at times.
- He seems to show the chronic boredom a lot of people with ASPD suffer from. During the third trial we see him be very amused by Kanade, despite the fact she's a fucking terrible person. Syobai is clearly bored of most people.
- His sense of loyalty is wack. He floats between loyalties based on who pays him more and who personally benefits him more. come on.
Kizuna Tomori : Histrionic Personality Disorder
Quick google summary since HPD isn't very well known:
'Histrionic personality disorder is a personality disorder characterized by a pattern of excessive attention-seeking behaviors, usually beginning in adolescence or early adulthood, including inappropriate seduction and an excessive desire for approval.'
- Despite her seemingly high confidence, Kizuna actually has low self esteem as shown in her FTE's. This is a common trait in HPD, low self esteem can lead to grand, dramatic gestures in order to gain attention from others. In Kizuna's case, I believe this validation comes from men and money.
- Kizuna handles criticism terribly. When called a slut by Rei, she shouts, threatens her and storms off in a fit. When Yuki breaks down her manipulation tactics, she uses her sexuality as a way of attempting to control Yuki. People with HPD are often overly flirtatious and use sexual language in order to get reactions out of people.
- Those with HPD often consider their relationships to be closer than they really are. During her introduction, Kizuna has already given Yuki an affectionate nickname and attempted to initiate physical contact with him, despite having only just met.
Okay it seems each one is getting a google summary, here you go:
'Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication'
This is the one im probably most convinced by, here you go:
- Kinji very clearly struggles with social expectations and conversations. He often speaks bluntly, not often approaching others first for conversation. In his very first lines he asks Yuki what his concern is, not picking up that everyones introducing themselves casually. In this introduction, he seems to struggle to come up with a topic to speak about that isn't related to religion, we learn almost nothing about himself from the introduction.
- His sense of relationships is also not seen as normal. He doesn't really seem to consider people friends, and when he does he literally had a FRIEND BAPTISM to FORMALLY MAKE YUKI HIS FRIEND. come on man he's autistic.
- His face. his face. does not change. He isn't phased by much, doesn't outwardly show emotions. exept yknow. the crashout. Autistic people may tend to use a monotone speaking voice and seems 'emotionless' (though important to note this is not all autistic people! I am autistic and I talk like a disney character!!). Aside from the crashout sprites, when his face does change, he just mainly looks bored. diva.
- Strong sense of sensibility and rules. This may also be from his religious mindset, but I think this is also to do with his personality. He lives by his own rules and ethics and did not think twice to leave the Kinjo cult.
- More on social stuff: I'm convinced Kinji has that thing a lot of autistic people like myself have where they struggle to get on with or relate to people their own age. For Kinji, I believe this is the case for the orphanage children. In the photo you get in his UFTE, he's smiling and looks very comfortable with them. Even in Linuj's notes, one of his likes is 'Children'. Autistic people may often make good educators and child-workers since they don't demand the same social rules as young adults in Kinjis case. He can recognise these children even by their clothing when he sees their bodies at the end of chapter 3. he loved those kids man :(
