Also to @ougiebougie and @killzombieseatbacon.  I’m not sure if the same applies since my forensic and cat foster/rescue is learned from upstate NY but:  try to see if you can get ahold of the ASPCA or other type of humane law enforcement officer (animal cop).  If not, keep pressuring the local police.  Shooting your cat is not only morally wrong, some law has probably been violated.  And most often someone who is willing to harm/shoot an animal and isn’t stopped will keep doing it, and will often move on to humans.

  Forensically, that bullet looks pretty intact and could be removed/examined to see if the firearm that fired it is in the firearms database or, later on if a suspect is developed, compared to their firearm.  (If when it is surgically removed and law enforcement isn’t yet/still isn’t involved make sure YOU get it and keep it).

Hah, maybe! This is pretty cool, although I have no idea how many cats would feel comfortable doing it. (Normally I would want to see that the cat got up their itself, but seeing how eagerly it’s climbing I’m not too worried about it having been placed there and not let down).
