urrently, I am located in Pahrump, Nevada. I am attending college in hopes of attaining an AA in Geosciences. Nature photography is what I do best when it comes to art, but I occasionally like to do other things like crochet. I love photographing the Mojave Desert (in which I live), due to its hidden beauty that many just do not see. It makes my day when I receive comments from people who have never experienced a desert, exclaiming how they wish they could visit the sights I photograph, which are practically in my backyard. My recent photos are taken with the camera featured in my profile pic (GE X500). No, it is not a DSLR but is rather a full featured non-DSLR. It's a like a mid point between a point-and-shoot (compact) camera and a DSLR. I am slowly mastering all of the the manual settings and learning to edit like a pro. One day, I will get me one of the shmancy, fancy DSLR's but for now I am happy with what I have.
These sunflowers were growing all over Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge like weeds! Aren't they pretty?

I found a patch of sunflowers on my drive through Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge. I could help but to take a picture the flowers were gorgeous.

Jack Longstreet, gunslinger and felon on the run, built this cabin in Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge in order to hide out. He drank from the local aquifers, and hunted the local critters. He is known as the last desert frontiersman.

These flowers are usually white, and unattractive (in my opinion) but in the summer and fall they turn a beautiful red and loose their petals.

I love the geology going on this photo. If you look closely, there are two mountain ranges meeting right in the middle. The lighter mountain, is the remnants of an old lake bed and looks to be made up of quartz sandstone, whereas, the darker mountain contains quite a few types of igneous rocks.

I accidently deleted this post, so I am re-uploading it. Sorry Guys!
Lemons
Just experimenting with the manual settings on my new camera. I realize that fruit and water is not exactly original but I am delightfully happy with the results.
I love lemons as well. I could drink lemonade, lemon flavored sparkling water, and eat lemon cookies, lemon pies, and lemon tarts all day, everyday.

Photo taken at Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge, in Amargosa Valley, Nevada. I'm not quite sure what sort of flower this is. It looks to me, to be some sort of desert daisy but I am not too sure.

The little guy featured in the photo is an Amargosa Pupfish. They are tiny, little fish that seem to dwell just fine in the desert oasis of Ash Meadows. I am a bit nervous about this upload since, this type of photography is something completely new to me. I took this photo on land, looking down at the water; which is all I could to do with my camera (I would have loved to have shot this photo underwater).
Fun Fact: When the Amargosa pupfish are mating, the males shine brightly in the water with a beautiful blue shimmer.

Some alkali heliotropes I found along a path. This is by far the favorite of the photos, I have taken today.

This is my doggy Milo. He was on the ground wiggling around trying to scratch his back and I managed to capture this. Looks like he smiling and just being very derpy doesn't it? This photo seems to capture his personality pretty well. He is fat, happy, and adorably derpy.
Milo is a 9-10 year old Bagel (Basset hound/ beagle mix) to all those who are curious .
I just love the light striking tutorial I found. I might just make more of my photos look like this.

Man, I really need to start waking up earlier so I can use natural sunlight for my photos.
Oh btw, I used a package of the the kraft home-style macaroni and cheese to make this dish. I'd love to get the ingredients together one day and make homemade mac&cheese , I think it would probably taste a lot better.
Comments and critiques are welcome and much appreciated.
