CAIUS’ BEGINNINGS //ONESHOT INSPO

alright! so here’s a mini excerpt something i whipped up for Caius Volturi’s backstory.  it’s my first crack at writing since a five year hiatus from rp, hope you enjoy the snippet ~

Caius’ beginning starts in the thirteenth century before common era, born in Greece centuries before it would bare the name. His parents own names were just a forewarning of his fate – ‘Athanasios’ and ‘Arete’ held the meaning of ‘immortal’ and ‘war,’ something he would find for himself in the years to come. His start saw the end of the final bronze age in the Mycenaean era, and fortune would have it that the land became the central hub of activity in the Mediterranean. But fortune was not on Caius’ side when his mother found it easy to trade her youngest son for the promise of an abundance of food for her family and good fortune from the Gods.  These ‘Gods’ whose tongues  were laced with Romanian dialect were drawn to this genetically mutated child - an albino, shockingly contrasting the commonly seen tanned olive complexion of the Mediterranean people.  Already a being forced to the shadows, an enemy of the sun. At the fragile age of nine years old the child found himself imprisoned by wood and stone, only one among the many frightened livestock that saw themselves being picked off by the handful and replaced daily.  For thirteen years he was confined within the walls and kept alive, to be denied an end to his suffering in captivity over and over again at the hands of vampires flooding into the land claiming and accepting titles of gods.  Subjected to train with other children, unknowingly taking part in an experiment to create the ultimate demon of war.  There was barely any of his soul left after thirteen years, and what was there was unrecognizable as human.  He saw his life end at the hands of the corporeal god, though he thought himself in a fevered dream - surely it was the only explanation for experiencing a “god’s” razor sharp teeth ravenously tearing through his flesh.

 Fortune's cruel punch line was delivered when he awoke, finally revealing the creature outside that his soul had been turned into.
