Shitting on Supergirl because it’s more lighthearted and Kara is bubbly and sweet is just bowing down to the view that in order for women to be strong they have to be exactly like men. Gritty, dark, misunderstood and having a chip on their shoulder is the only way a woman can be seen as a strong character. Not that I don’t appreciate those type of characters but fuck that view, and fuck people who think that. It’s extremely sexist to say that Supergirl can’t be strong because she’s not dark and jaded is extremely sexist. You can’t say Supergirl is sexist for her being bubbly and cute when you think that being bubbly and cute is a form of weakness. Because you’re saying being like a man is the only way to be strong, and that’s extremely fucked up.
