THE LETTER NO ONE READ IN TIME
Was a good girl.
Maybe too good.
The kind of person who stayed up late helping her mother, who took her grandmother to the doctor even when she was exhausted, who listened to everyoneβs problems while no one ever asked about hers.
Her family loved her, yes, but they never truly saw her.
To them, was βthe responsible one,β βthe one who never complains,β βthe one who can handle everything.β
And without meaning to, they kept placing all their burdens on her shoulders, as if her life existed only to support theirs.
Each day, faded a little more.
She still smiled, as always, but the smile never reached her eyes. And although she screamed on the inside, on the outside she only said:
ββYes, Iβll do it.β
ββNo, itβs fine.β
ββIβm okay.β
One night, after being called βselfishβ for wanting a single day for herself, something inside her broke.
She went to her room, sat at her desk, and wrote a letterβ
a letter someone should have read before it was too late.
LETTER
"To whoever caresβ¦
I donβt know when I stopped existing for myself.
I know I am good. I know I always did the right thing. I cared, I listened, I gave more than I had.
But it was never enough for you. You never saw the exhaustion in my eyes or the sadness in my voice. You never asked how I was really doing. You just assumed I could handle everything."
"I donβt blame you completely.
Maybe I also made a mistake by letting you use me as your lifeline.
But everyone needs, at least once, to be looked at with love, with interest.
To be hugged without being asked for something in return."
"I am leaving because I ran out of strength.
Because being invisible was the only thing I learned.
Because I lived for you, but you never allowed me to live for myself."
"I donβt write this to hurt you, but so you understand that kindness also breaks.
That strong people get tired too.
That no one should feel so alone while surrounded by others."
"If someone reads this someday, please learn something:
Donβt wait to lose someone to value them.
Listen. Hug. Ask.
Donβt assume that the one who never asks for anything has everything under control."
Goodbyeβ¦
